Scully
'Essential' pre-requisites didn't include a full driving license (unless I missed it) which surprises me, but nevertheless a fantastic opportunity in a superb environment for somebody. I'm sure it will be a rewarding experience and with that comes the opportunity for greater things in the same field. Am very envious. A young lad who seemed initially very keen, has just handed in his notice to local 'keeper on a local shoot, with no job to go to. He wants to be 'a labourer'. He'll learn, hopefully while youth is still on his side.
WelshMike
With you on that Scully. If I was a good few years younger, and lived in that part of the country I would be applying myself.

shootgun
Very enticing, but i couldn't live on that wage...
polester
The duties of this post require the applicant to have a full current driving licence that enables them to drive in the UK and whilst not essential, preferably with facility to tow a trailer. However, the Forestry Commission is willing to consider any proposals put forward by applicants that would allow them to do the job by other means. It's down the bottom of the page
Redgum
Oh to be able to survive on that wage, be careful for what you wish for though. The FC are struggling to keep up with their boar problem and are being hounded by activists, they are dead against getting professional help from other bodies and for some reason want to keep it 'in house'. This is mostly why they have such a problem within the Forest of Dean ( and its a very big bit of woodland), the boar don't get such a strong hold on private woodlands as they are dealt with, or properly managed. But for a young single chap its a stunning place ta go about his work, nice carcass handling facilities and plenty to shoot, though you would have your mug shot on 'stop the cull' facebook page labelled as a baby killer within a week ( probably next to mine )

kent
I don't know the forest of dean but its about time many more of these spots were open to sport stalking rather than taxpayers money funding incompetence and waste. A great job but I couldn't afford to keep wifey in the life style shes come accustomed to on the wage. Mick
