WelshMike
I have struggled to get out as much as I would have liked over the last 4-5 weeks due to various commitments. I was away last week but got home Saturday so thought I would get out with the rifle for a couple of hours. Spent a fruitless couple of hours on one farm so decided to call over to another which is around 400 acres. Arrived about 10.30 and to be fair I felt knackered before I started. Went into one large field that gives a good view over 200 or so acres. Called for a couple of minutes with the reliable Mark 1 hand caller, Quick shine of the lamp was met by a pair of headlights about 50 yards away, seriously bright pair of eyes. Over to the NV to see the fox trotting off down the field. He stopped at around the 100 yard mark and received a 75 grain sst round to the chest. He is the top fox in the pic and he was a big lad. Had another scan over the fields which had around 600-700 ewes in so eyes everywhere, one nice bright pair nice and low to the ground so quick squeak and over to the nv. Made the 50 yards I needed to get into a shootable position (off a nice solid fence post). The fox was on the far side of a fence which he followed before jumping up through the middle of the stock fence in a very acrobatic way. Stopped him at 70 yards with another chest shot. Over the fence to recover him and then back to the same position for a last look. One last call saw another fox in a similar position so back to the fence post, NV on and watched a fox do exactly the same as the last one. I am pretty sure he jumped through the same point midway up the sheep netting. He stopped and sat at around 70 yards, bullet away, number 3 down. He was the fox at the bottom of the pic. The damage you can see on his back is the exit wound as he was sat facing me sat downhill of me. The bullet entered mid chest and hit his spine on the way out. Rifle is a Howa 1500 in .243 with a N750A NV unit. I was using Hornady 75 grain super performance SST rounds. Finished up leaving at 12.30, knackered but great to be back out. tonker
Good result for your efforts Mike, I've got a howa in .243 but not nearly as posh as yours I do like the three position safety on them.

Cheers bud. Not sure about the posh bit mate but thanks . I must say that despite the weight it is a great rifle...as usual it is the owner that gets it wrong
