TIGHTCHOKE
He has lambasted a colleague who actually does suffer with depression! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-34853430
FalconFN
Sounds like a Borisism, or date I say it, a Farageism. We complain that they don't act like normal people but then complain when they do.
SneakyD
From the bbc report "Ken Livingstone has "unreservedly" apologised for suggesting a shadow defence minister who criticised him needed "psychiatric help". Kevan Jones - has suffered with depression" I don't understand why he's apologised, he was correct. Kevan Jones has a serious mental condition for which medical help should be sought and provided. Vince Green
I think the real point goes much deeper. Kevan Jones queried why Livingstone should be appointed to co - chair the shadow defence committee on trident. A very valid question in itself, given Livingstone's active stance on Nuclear Disarmament over the years. There must be loads of people more suitable, my dog would be more suitable!! It was blatent Corbyn cronyism of the worst possible kind in appointing him.. Livingstone's response was not only offensive it was a deliberate personal attack on somebody who Livingstone knew had a problem. Jones had spoken about it very publicly in the past. Given the very specific nature of the comment I don't think Livingstone can now say he had no idea. He's a nasty bit of work Edited November 18, 2015 by Vince Green

Vince Green
Just out of interest who pays his wages if he's an ex labour mp? The man is a multi millionaire but I am not sure how he got the money, maybe somebody should look into it. Apparantly his Socialist principles don't extend to his own wealth  http://en.mediamass.net/people/ken-livingstone/highest-paid.html#null Thats a spoof by the way but he is worth big bucks Edited November 18, 2015 by Vince Green
TIGHTCHOKE
Well he has been told to apologise and has posted the weakest apology via social media, what a prize plum!
grrclark
Whether it was a deliberate slur or not we cannot know, he claims it wasn't of course, but it smells a lot. Red Ken suggests that because Jones had been rude towards him in asking the question "what does KL know about defence?" that he was entitled to be rude in return and suggest he was "obviously very depressed and disturbed and should see a GP". I think that KL is a shrewd guy, he has been around politics for such a long time that he doesn't make accidental comments, it was calculated and designed to offend in the most damaging of ways to Jones. His appointment to the role of joint leader of the Labour defence review is completely baffling as well, I do hope that Maria Eagle will stand her ground as shadow defence secretary and push back hard.
