Guest stevo
evening all , yesterday i was clay shooting at a local club (entered two pool shoots ) great day was had by all I believe , even though the wind was blowing a gale and made things very interesting . while I was there I bumped into a mate who has the same gun as me , he was using MULLER chokes . I have been tempted to get some for myself for my CG summit ( maxis bore system ) the CG chokes are ok but can be a little fussy , so.. he let me borrow a U4 and a U1 choke , had a quick go with them and was pleasantly surprised with the results , , but felt that a little more research on the pattern plate was needed just to see what is happening , AND if they are what they claim to be , there are four standard chokes , U1 U2 U3 U4 you can get a U0 but I believe that's be request . the chokes are meant to be designed to be optimum at given ranges ( nothing new there as all chokes are ) see below Each choke is designed to work optimally at specific distances, but will work effectively at sensible distances either side of the optimum. •Ü0 .002 / Inch of Constriction Anything under 20 yards•Ü1 .006 / Inch of Constriction Optimal at 25 yards•Ü2 .012 / Inch of Constriction Optimal at 35 yards•Ü3 .022 / Inch of Constriction Optimal at 45 yards•Ü4 .035 / inch of Constriction Optimal at 60 yards so even though it was still blowing a bloody gale , I went today to put them on paper , to see what is what . please bear in mind this was a VERY basic test ( bit of card wedged up against a wall with a fence post ) at 35 yards for an average test I have got the U2 and U3 coming my way very soon , and as soon as they do I will be doing a proper test with all four chokes at the optimum ranges for each choke . anyway this is what I got from the U1 and U4 today the shells where Eley superb 28 gram size 8 the U1 the pattern on the left hand side is a bit sparse as that's where the 4" fencepost was holding it up . https://www.dropbox.com/photos/shared_space/LTR1Ynz7XtLFLrA and the U4 https://www.dropbox.com/photos/shared_space/CG8hUffwz8dwRg7 Edited November 29, 2015 by stevo

figgy
Stevo the C&G chokes are very good and throw very good patterns. I would not be wasting money changing to different chokes. I've had mullet chokes and now I just use the chokes that came with my clay gun.

V8 90
You'll be classified on the day by 2 layouts chosen at random for your 4 layouts for now. You can get a temp classification after shooting 3 x registered 100 target shoots of the same discipline by phoning the CPSA

Cumbrian
I use Invector plus Muller U2s in a Browning 325, 30 inch barrels, and like them a lot. I have patterned them with good results i.e. no unduly 'hot' centre to the pattern and not many fliers off the board. Indeed, in the case of Hull High Pheasant no.5 shot, at 30 yards or so, I managed to get all the pellets (i.e. the full complement of 424/5 pellets from 2 cartridges - see the Hull website for the pellet figures) well within a metre by metre square piece of wall paper that I use for patterning. O.K. not the usual 30 inch circle but still impressive in my experience. Edited November 30, 2015 by Cumbrian
mk 38
Unfortunatly i can`t seem to see the patterns . I have muller chokes in my 725 and shoot a U2 and U3 for everyting including driven days hope you are not putting more than 28g 6s through your mullers for driven days as that's as big as you can go so muller says
