What air pistol

I am looking for an air pistol (an accurate one) to shoot rats and squirrels.

I would like one that is as close to the maximum legal power of 6Ft/lb as possible.

 

Any recommendations?

I don't think any of them will be up to dropping squirrels unless you can guarantee head shots at very short range.

Squirrel are tough.

Shooting them trapped will work but other than that it is difficult.

A cheap 10ft/lb air rifle would be better mate.

It will be mainly rats.

I have an air rifle (AA S410) but wanted something smaller I can carry easier

Crossman 1377 or 1322 (6fltb pump up pistol) for rats will get you by inexpensively or for humane dispatch in traps. These can be modded very easily into carbines if you google them.

 

For squirrels or longer range look at air rifle with as close to 12ftlbs as possible.

Whatever you go for get a Red Dot or Reflex Sight fitted and you can be pretty accurate with them. Just whatever pistol you get make sure its not a very heavy two stage trigger as those things are hard to hold accurately while pulling on the trigger that much.

HW45 or the Crossman 1322 pump-but get an early one with the steel breach-the later, plastic jobbies are crud-you might also want to look at the later Rat catcher co2-its tiny in your hands and pokes out about 8 ft/lb from memory-very accurate as well over 25 yards but noisy out of the box.

You would be mighty lucky to stop a squirrel with any air pistol. Reality is the squirrels would be very unlucky because you would most likely to just injure them if you actually managed to hit them! Same with rats. Full power air rifle best for both, unless you can get them in a live trap.

Had a 1377 and an hw45 and I would think both are more than capable at 10 yards. Beyond that you won't be accurate enough on anything other than a stationary target.

Best bet is something like a ratcatcher or even a bsa ultra.

Forget using a pistol - get yourself an air rifle, and do the job properly.
