Royboy
I have to tell someone about this, Had a quick walk round in my dinner and took my gunshy springer along with my Lab, Now normally when she hears a bang she comes and sits on my foot and won't budge for the rest of the shooing session but today she flushed a Teal from some reeds then retrieved it ! I was gob smacked ! She has never really retrieved game either !

Nice one though! How old is she?

besty57
Same thing happened to my springer, just seems as he was about the same age he realised what his nose was for ,now when out you can't hold him back.great when it happens.he still not sure when he first sees the gun ,but once his mind is occupied and he's on the go he's ok. paulnix
My brothers first Springer was gun shy, myself and another guy on our shoot got her over this by having my brother and his dog back standing away from us with him casually working her in light cover and we managed to pick out a teal to drop right next to the dog, then waited for her to retrieve and then did same again with a pigeon, after a couple of similar outings she was sound and turned out to be a cracker, but it took patience from guns picking out the right birds that would of dropped close to her.
