figgy
Made me chuckle reading the comments wonder if the barrel got bent by a previous owner using it to lever his stuck Lada out of the tundra. Or by prying open stuck farm gates.tough as old boots baikals. The gun must be off its face if you managed to close it and shoot your carts with folded paper across the cart face holding the primer in. No mate, the Baikal mechanism pulls it onto the face with a lot of force. If it does not close enough it also fails to fire. It was great for freeing the coal bunker lid when it froze the other day 😀
redcoat
I also forage with my single Baikal and reload paper hulls, but with 1 oz black powder loads and 7 1/2 shot (1oz) as well. I thought I was on my own in this, how refreshing to find there are others out there as well! I will ask my sons how to upload pictures for your amusement. Good for you. I am a bit worried actually. Its been a few weeks since I made smoke, usually I have bitten my finger nails to nothing going this long! Dave49
This method was known as "sprung barrel". I've seen two old English live pigeon guns with sprung barrels both side by side. Dave
