pigeon controller
Friday started out as a normal pigeon shooting day with us trying to locate a sufficient amount of birds to shoot . We had been requested to shoot one rape field in particular so we left the city with its houses leaking central heating into the atmosphere to the cold countryside to be confronted with thick fog. Now I know you can never say never but birds sit tight when its foggy as they do not like flying into the unknown. We decided to travel west into the brighter weather and found a suitable flock to shoot as we watched to decide the best plan of attack we had driven across a ten acre grass field. After watching for approx thirty minutes I decided to move the Disco and set up. NO , she would not start just turned over. When I had this happeen some years ago it was oil in the injector harness so I looked at the ECU and disconnected the connection to find oil in the connector so I presumed the same problem had occured, Which is a known fault . I phone the nearest Land Rover agent and ordered the part, I was recoverd to the farm yard and five hours later the company that has the same initials as CAR recoverd me home. In the mean time DB was picked up by his mate and he went to work. When I was at home I cleaned the ECU and lifted the rocker cover and cleaned ready to fit the new injector harness which would be at the dealer at 8.30am This morning collected the part ,fitted it no start. So DB collected me in his vehicle and off we went to the fog bound field we had not been able to see yesterday to find approx one hundred and fifty birds down feeding hard, as DB vehicle is not a 4x4 we had to walk the kit across two fields to set up . We started with ten birds on cradles and two on the magnet the first birds back would not come near us so we ditched the magnet and went to twelve on cradles which worked. it was now 12.15 and we had a steady flow of birds giving us some good shots. We noticed that the birds were going across to our left and setting for a clover field which we shot at to lift them but as the day went on they would not lift we stopped shooting at 16.45 and picked up eightynine pigeons and three corvids. So it is a truncated report this week and I will have to see if I can find out what is wrong with the sick Disco , much to the delight of a few? Passionforangling
Hope you get the motor sorted out for next weekend. Very frustrating when cars go wrong isn't it? It's not the car you travel abroad in the summer is it?
motty
Well done, ST. Still having trouble here. Pigeons still in huge flocks. When they split up I might be in!
JDog
You may have to use your posh car next time out. Birds are on the clover here in Lincolnshire and I feel they will be until there has been some drilling.

It's not the car you travel abroad in the summer is it? I've had it from new in 2004 it's been to Greece twice but not lately I've covered 162 K and it's used as a tool to enable me to go shooting and has served me well for the abuse it gets. I hope it is something simple and will start analysing tomorrow . Edited March 12, 2016 by pigeon controller

We have drillings ,but so deep not a sign of seed, I think we may loose the birds to the tree buds next week as we have seen a few on fruit blossom then they will be back on the clover as it is sweeter than the rape. Cosd
I've had it from new in 2004 it's been to Greece twice but not lately I've covered 162 K and it's used as a tool to enable me to go shooting and has served me well for the abuse it gets. I hope it is something simple and will start analysing tomorrow .Hi PCHave you tried purging the Disco. In case you do t know what this is, it's air in the fuel system. It's in the manual and something you would do of the car ran out of petrol. If she starts then you are a step closer to the issue. Could be a number of things, but you know air is getting into the fuel system. First thing I tried which only cost a few £'s was the fuel bleed valve by the fuel pump. Didn't solve my issue but was told to try that first. Took 5 mins to swap over. Mine turned out to be the valve seals. Only cost pennies for the brass washers, labour cost me £250 at a Land Rover specialist. In hindsight it's something I could have done but I had never removed the rocker cover before. Sounds like it's not beyond you. This is quite common on the Disco. Let me know if you need any more info, if yours is the same issue and you need some details on DIY, I think I saved a link with instructions somewhere. Good luck Cos Edited March 16, 2016 by Cosd
pigeon controller
Thanks Cosd, I linked it up to the magic box and the fault code said air flow sensor, changed it aga man had suggested the fuel purge system carried that out and kept cranking and it eventually fired up . I have been running around for the past two days seems ok but over night it hesitates on first start up then clears . So may be injector seals as you say, thanks for info and concern.
