HDAV
The missus is changing her car and we are selling hers to a friend of the family for a little over what the PX offer was,the buyer of the car (well loosely buyer her parents are paying) has a P reg 5 door corsa its a 1.4 i think not sure on the mileage or anything else but they are thinking of scrapping. Well actually want me to scrap it, I'm wondering if eBay is a better option breaker will offer what £50-80 if we deliver? or collect for free? Its a runner with MOT not sure how much but can find out EDIT:its a 2000 1.2 with MOT till October 16 Edited March 14, 2016 by HDAV
Dano0404
Any car like that has to be worth £250+ with mot in my eyes.
Hamster
I agree, so long as it's a runner with MOT run it up to your closest chitters dealer and you should get at least £200.
HDAV
its had the same owner for last probably 10 years minimum (they bought it a few years old) and is used daily. probably 2 poss 3 previous keepers. its done 120k ish similar car to this one in fact http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-Corsa-b-/252318706816?hash=item3abf5dec80:g:LegAAOSwFNZWyFna
stuey
Can you not just use the Corsa as your trade in?..
HDAV
They don't really want old trade ins hence the low ball on ours it's a main dealer so I doubt their interested and I'm not taking half way across the country to find out they don't want it. Paul223
The 'cash' price will reflect the minimum trade in and minimum is all you'd get eBay it or local small used car sales
Rupert
Corsa is a kids fave, try a A4 add in the window.
Mungler
I know someone who was looking for a legal car with T&T to park outside someone's house legally as part of an on going parking war Any clean looking car with T&T is £250 to £
Dunkield
I went through this recently, with a Corsa funnily enough. Older and higher mileage than your one though. Despite what everyone in the internet and down the pub will tell you you will very lucky to get £250 for let alone any more, you just have to look at what is out there. I scrapped ours for £100 as it was costing me money just sitting there. I didn't deliver it though, they came and collected. When the transporter arrived it was full of much newer/better cars going the same way, apparently a large garage bill these days is enough for owners to through the towel in. One reason less and less youngsters are owning cars.
TONY R
Run it over the auction block, that way its gone. There is any number of ways to make more money break it sell it off in parts or wait for a buyer EVENTUALY, everything taken into account block it Everytime thats why the trade do this. HDAV
£250 would be great it's got a cherished plate on so once that's sorted then we have the option to sell or scrap I'll try a few local scrappies as the whole deal is becoming far too much hassle for the £300-400 we can be better off! TONY R
Trust me block it its the thing to do here, you might be suprised what it fetches at auction.
Dunkield
From what I found if you ring a decent salvage company they will give a price, you can ring as many others as you like but the price will be the same on that day from all of them. dodeer
I scrapped a P38 Range Rover last year and got £130. Mercedes C220 £95. I think a Corsa you'd get £40+-. If it's got an mot and is half sensible someone will give you £150 for it. Auction houses are good places to sell but remember the sellers %. TONY R
Block it, if its presentable mot etc it will do ok even after the fee. Go to any auction look on any auction site not much for 400-500 quid . October is a fair old lump of test it will sell and you will do ok and instantly. Dave-G
I got nearly £400 for my old Y2K Pinin - declared as a welding mot failure from one of those end of life outfits. They even collected and the driver was grateful it was a runner that didnt need winching onto the truck.

The scrapyard did well out of that Merc, the bonnet alone is worth £200, by the time it has been dismantled and all the bits sold on ebay they would have made thousands out of it. I bought a secondhand light switch for a W208 last week, finally located one for £20 but many were being offered around £40 Scrapping cars is big money now we have the internet, a very profitable business. The body work was good and engine sweet as a nut. Just the auto box seized up and the front wheel came off when was driving ( someone loosened the bolts on it)
