The missus is changing her car and we are selling hers to a friend of the family for a little over what the PX offer was,the buyer of the car (well loosely buyer her parents are paying) has a P reg 5 door corsa its a 1.4 i think not sure on the mileage or anything else but they are thinking of scrapping. Well actually want me to scrap it, I'm wondering if eBay is a better option breaker will offer what £50-80 if we deliver? or collect for free?

Its a runner with MOT not sure how much but can find out

EDIT:its a 2000 1.2 with MOT till October 16

I went through this recently, with a Corsa funnily enough. Older and higher mileage than your one though. Despite what everyone in the internet and down the pub will tell you you will very lucky to get £250 for let alone any more, you just have to look at what is out there.

I scrapped ours for £100 as it was costing me money just sitting there. I didn't deliver it though, they came and collected.

When the transporter arrived it was full of much newer/better cars going the same way, apparently a large garage bill these days is enough for owners to through the towel in. One reason less and less youngsters are owning cars.

£250 would be great it's got a cherished plate on so once that's sorted then we have the option to sell or scrap I'll try a few local scrappies as the whole deal is becoming far too much hassle for the £300-400 we can be better off!

I scrapped a P38 Range Rover last year and got £130.

Mercedes C220 £95.

I think a Corsa you'd get £40+-.

If it's got an mot and is half sensible someone will give you £150 for it. Auction houses are good places to sell but remember the sellers %.

Block it, if its presentable mot etc it will do ok even after the fee.

Go to any auction look on any auction site not much for 400-500 quid . October is a fair old lump of test it will sell and you will do ok and instantly.

The scrapyard did well out of that Merc, the bonnet alone is worth £200, by the time it has been dismantled and all the bits sold on ebay they would have made thousands out of it. I bought a secondhand light switch for a W208 last week, finally located one for £20 but many were being offered around £40

Scrapping cars is big money now we have the internet, a very profitable business.

The body work was good and engine sweet as a nut. Just the auto box seized up and the front wheel came off when was driving ( someone loosened the bolts on it)
