Thinking of buying an old Remington 1100. What cartridge please.

You may have a magnum barrel with a single gas port and heavier magnum action sleeve

These barrels can have difficulty cycling 28g cartridges..

Or if 2 gas ports , as previously mentioned , it may need a good clean

Spin a small drill bit , by hand , in the ports...built up carbon can get very hard and restrict gas flow

If you have not purchased the 1100 yet , I would consider a Rem 1187

Advantages are , multichoke , steel capable , 3" chambers , stainless steel mag tube , and wider & stronger extractor claw

Not an expensive gun and not a lot more than an 1100

Thank you all. Very informative.

I have fancied a1100 for sometime shame it has a 14, inch stock but could over come

this with a pull on extension.

My mate wants to sell his. Not sure of the stock length but it`s in nice nick and has both skeet and trap barrels with it. Drop me a pm if you want his details.
