TONY R
Lightweight batteries are common these days, and thought about trying to make a heated jacket well vest. Same as some motorcyclists wear , rather like a low voltage ellectric blanket. Visi vest or jacket is the obvious choice and duc tape tie wrap wire in place , but movement will eventualy break the strands, i thought about carbon tape seen it on the WWW in just such an application, but not sure of its resistance. Info online seems to be possitive for such a project but is more geared at having a fair ammount of power available, like on a motorbike. It is running it off a battrey i am unsure about. The heated clothing for motorcycles back in the day had a strong draw on power, obviously i want it to be low enough to get at least a hour or so. from a lightweight battery. Any battery/ ellectronics gurus on here who ,could offer any practical advice, or is this technicaly dead in the water dispite modern battery technology. ? Here is the general sort of idea. Looking to make sitting about when its really cold a little more comfortable.
Mutiny
Milwaukee do a heated jacket powered by one of their 12v batteries, mine has been good - got me through some particularly cold days!
TONY R
Is it wires or this carbon tape, do you know? They are cheap to buy less than i expected could be an answer with no work involved thanks for the info. . Mutiny
i think the old ones are done with wire and the newer versions use the tape. No problem, could be a hassle free solution for you!
TONY R
Agree it is the most practical solution. Wont use it much but when its real cold. .
bruno22rf
Why not just buy one off Fleabay? Most seem to run on AA batteries - you could buy rechargeables to cut the running costs.
daveboy
Last winter I got a heated car seat cover from Aldi (around £10) I put in under my jacket and plugged it into the lighter socket on my bike.On the lowest setting it was warm enough at 70mph. Rupert
I bought a Dewalt one, I only get to look at it now when the batteries are flat. The Missus pinched it for shooting in.
johnnytheboy
Why not use zippo hand warmers, they supplement enough heat for me in the dearest darkest wildfowling weather!

figgy
Agree a hand warmer in a pouch placed in the small of your back keeps you warm. Lasts a lot longer than battery powered heated jackets.
