darren 67
I was wondering if anyone has taken theirs apart and cleaned it. Would it lose effect if dirty?
FalconFN
There is no need to clean them at all. The AA isn't known as a very effective moderator so if you did take it apart and ruined it you could use it as an excuse to buy an HW one.... evo
falconfn,,, I agree the older AA silencers were useless but I have been very impressed with the new one on the ultimate sporter,, well put it this way it is definitely quieter than the one on my hw100 , yet I have always rated the HW silencer to be the best out there, not stripped it down to compare to the HW but might do in the future
figgy
Swift Stubby is one I have and a Parker Hale. The Parker Hale is carp and is more use as a barel weight and cocking aid the Swift is very good. My AA S410 is about on par with Parker Hale. Huggit are supposedly good. oldypigeonpopper
hello, they say the hogan decimeater is on par with HWs and cheaper
bruno22rf
Never had any problems with my AA mod on my S410 - as for cleaning it....why? What could have got in there - no powder residue that's for sure. If mud has managed to find its way in then I would use something like a Dishwasher tablet in half a bowl of hot water and let the beast soak overnight before flushing out with boiling water from the kettle and then leaving it in the airing cupboard to dry. If you've got your Blue Peter model makers badge there's a Youtube video on how to strip the AA silencer down and improve it's sound suppression qualities. Is this with hair rollers and pan scrubbers?
bruno22rf
"Hair rollers and a pan scrubber"? - its an AA, not a Gaystate.
darren 67
And if you watch and listen to the guy at the end he says not worth the messing for what very little improvement it makes.

I've got that on my S510 and it's top notch. It's a little bigger and heavier than the HW, but it's just as quiet if not quieter and much more scratch resistant
