The Mighty Prawn
Maybe set for a different network?
keg
Yup, sounds like it is locked to another network.
Bobba
Maybe set for a different network?+1. Take it into one of the independent traders and see if it needs to be "unlocked" from its existing network.

philm
It should tell you on the ebay link if it is unlocked or what network it is locked to.
old'un
Its brand new should it be locked New makes no difference, unless it states network free (unlocked) it could be locked to any network that's why we need the eBay link.
kody
It sold as unlocked it comes up no network coverage emergency calls only
stevo_m
I would suggest you contact the seller, as it looks like it is either network locked as others have said. The other thing it could be is stolen (as new and I guess in box) and disabled by the network provider.

If it's stolen, the IMEI number will be blocked by GSMA, they are an organisation representing the manufacturers and if it is blocked/stolen it won't work on any network. Several hundred iphones were stolen recently from a distributor in the north. All were blocked...

philm
It could also be the sim card, they don't always work in new phones.
