WelshMike
Apologies, this isnt exactly shooting related but I thought a few people may be interested. The pic shows a swarm of honey bees. The little blighters are from one of the 2 hives my wife and I keep. Despite splitting both of the hives recently it appears that the bees do not read bee books and decided to swarm. We captured the swarm in a box and then moved them into a "nuc box" (a mini hive) so fingers crossed they will decide to stay. Whilst we were sorting out this swarm we noticed a smaller swarm in another tree so we had to do the same with them.....all in all yesterday turned into a slightly more hectic day then expected. Now the shooting bit.....it also didnt help that I got to bed at 2 a.m on Sunday morning as I have just taken on a new perm of around 400 acres with some serious rabbit issues. The farmer has had to re drill one field and there is a grazed margin of about 20 metres all round his corn fields. I imagine I saw 300 + rabbits in 3 fields and managed to shoot 49 with the .17 hmr. Unfortunately no pics of the rabbits, just the bees Thanks for reading
FOXHUNTER1
Very impressive mate , but scares me all those bees. Take my hat off to you keeping them. Cracking night on the bunnies , see any foxes on there ?

Cracking night on the bunnies , see any foxes on there ? Bees are far less scary when you have a bee suit on No foxes spotted mate but with the .17 making a racket it sounded like a shooting gallery so I think they had the sense to keep out the way. I am showing restraint at the moment when it comes to the foxes to make sure I still have some alive for your visit.
JDog
An impressive picture and thanks for posting. It has been a while since I last saw a swarm.
Danger-Mouse
Bees are far less scary when you have a bee suit on Whilst I`d be(e) happier you still wouldn`t get me near a swarm by choice. The buzzing sends shivers down my spine. Only time I`ve seen one was when I was working in Eire. We`d just pulled up into the car park of the shop we were going to be working in when we noticed a black cloud approaching. We very quickly realised what it was and everyone legged it back into their cars. I`m sure we`d have been fine but no one was taking the risk. Impressive sight though. wisdom
Used to keep about 8 hives of my own.Collected swarms from all around when the police rang me.Great hobby but all the land was sold where I kept them and the new owner didn't want them on the land.Time consuming but very rewarding. WelshMike
Cheers for the comments gents. Bee update- The larger swarm appears happy in its new home. The smaller swarm were obviously not happy and left never to be seen again (ungrateful little swines).
