High velocity

Evening chaps

Took the 22 RF out for a change , the rifle shoots any ammo prity accurate to be fair , thought I'd try some Remington thunderbolt HV , my word never realised how much difference in sound there was to the others I use , was like shooting with a mod off ,looks like these will be stuffed to the rear of the cabinet any one else notice this or just my ears

They shoot flatter all right but it spoils the pleasure of shooting 'almost' silently with subsonic rounds.Might as well use the HMR if high velocity and flatter shooting is required in my opinion.

"the HMR" ? Not everybody has one. Handy to have a few hv's for when a longer shot presents, if you find an accurate round. I find rws hv's to be very accurate in my anschutz.

True. I don't want two rabbit guns. I like .22LR and accept it's limitations, but if HV rounds can give me a little extra accuracy at range, I may use them on occasion.

I have a few to try and thought it would be just the aim point a little higher but found they were up to the left about 50mm at 50m so would need to re zero. So only subs now.

Well that's as maybe, but others shouldn't be put off by that. I've found a few brands that fly flatter and are every bit as accurate as subs. It's just a matter of trying as many different ones as you can until you find some that suit your rifle.

In my 452 the eley subs are what i use, i tried a few types of high vellocity rounds for accuracy, i found expediters were about the worse high and to the right, but Yellow jackeyts were a little better but still off to the right, But Winchester lazers were just a little high at 50m and smack on for windage. So i have a few in in case i need a bit more from the LR anytime. You just got to look for something that suits your gun and set up close enough to be practical, i was lucky i found something that worked great.
