Verminator 66
Reloader 7 11.2 g 20g v-max cci400 primers 3550 fps dose for me
casts_by_fly
I am shooting a full load of H4198 and 20 gr bullets loaded just short of the lands. I only picked up 4198 because I was also loading it in my 223 with 40's. If i were start again I'd pick up some VVN 120. 4198 is good and shoots between 3/4" and 1" which is pretty good from a break barrel gun and minimal load development. I run rem 7 1/2 primers for the harder cup in the break action and they shoot fine. thanks rick
mick miller
I run rem 7 1/2 primers for the harder cup That'a why i use CCI 450s with the thick cup (much better idea). And Viht N120 - but I'm still working my way through 500 plus fire forming loads. http://www.sportingshootermag.com.au/news/reloading-the-17-hornet Edited July 25, 2016 by mick miller

SPARKIE
Reloader 7 11.2 g 20g v-max cci400 primers 3550 fps dose for me Im using 11.3grain reloader 7 20grain vmax cci br primers but in .17ackley hornet running 3600fps
casts_by_fly
wot bout 25 gr v max, any reviews no real point in the hornet. The 25 vmax is a long bullet so you have to seat it deeper in a repeater. Even then your speed drops down and your trajectory suffers. The whole point of a 17 hornet is a light bullet driven fast. You're still pushing a light bullet with the 25 but it isn't particularly fast. If you really want a 25gr bullet in the 17 then the hornady 25gr HP is a good bullet (at least it is short enough for a bolt gun) but again not fast. If you think you need a heavier bullet then you probably want a different gun. At the ranges the hornet is intended and the game it is intended for the 20 gr bullet is the ideal pill. thanks, rick

Dougy
Donny don't get confused with the light hearted banter. Stick to the reloading books recommended powders and loads. Specially in such small cases. Very important.
casts_by_fly
is this lil gunpower any gud for reloading the 17. i havent tried H4895 It works, but it is a bit twitchy in the tiny bore. If you try it, proceed slowly with 0.1 grain increments and weigh each charge when loading. You hit pressure suddenly and can spike quick. I would only use it if you had no other options. SPARKIE
4200 oh don't be mistaken dodgy I can go a lot faster than I am in the Ackley hornet for half the powder your burning...but I don't need to...in the tunnel range at Grimsby it single holes at 100yrds. its not all about speed....nor do I need two hands to open the bolt. have a look on saubier....small cal forums is this lil gunpower any gud for reloading the 17. i havent tried H4895 As said by some others its very potent I have a tub but prefur the reloader 7 a lot more forgiving

Dougy
My reloading safe house has a few in. And not sure if you were aware but capitals are deemed to be shouting and rude, unless of course there are other reasons. Just thought I'd let you know. ;-)
