richg
Trying to get some info on the 2016 World 410 Championships, but it appears to be TOP SECRET, Its run by BASC but absolutely nothing on there website under EVENTS or anywhere else, held at Mid Wales shooting centre, again nothing on there website at all, e mailed them and they confirmed they are holding it on Saturday september 10th, but no info about it, i have heard its only a 50 bird re-entry, re-entry on a World Championship? and only 50 bird. Any info from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Rich g

30-6
About 3 or 4 years ago my wife and i were staying in Newquay ( west wales ), and went for a ride to watch the event. At the time i had both hands in splints due to carpal tunnel, we wandered around all day and noticed people were turning and looking at us. One of the competitors eventually came over to me and said, "unable to have a go this year are you " ?, apparently i was a lookalike of the previous years winner. Made me feel good, but i had to admit i wasn't. Some really nice / expensive .410's being used there, and a lot of side by sides. Came away with 1000 of their cartridges, loaded for them by gamebore, think they were called super gems or something similar, 28g of 7 1/2, very good for pigeon. Walker570
I have to ask.... 28grams of 7 1/2s ? ??? How in heavens name did they manage that !! Not doubting but would like to know as I have difficulty squeezing 20grams in ...even 19grms.
richg
I think it was more likely 18 grams, though i hear Chedite do a 24gram load.
Salopian
30-6 was referring to Mid Wales's own brand 12 gauge cartridge loaded for them by Gamebore . They are 28 gram (1 oz) 12 gauge called SuperGems.
Walker570
Haaah!! Thanks for explanation. I bet they are a nice little cartridge, lets face it 30 -35yrs ago Impax was the go to cartridge for driven gameand I bet that shell is very close in performance. Now a days unless your shooting the equivalent of a punt gun for driven game, your considered out of it. That is why more and more of us choose to shoot 410s and 28bores. richg
Finally got the answer. The BASC World 410 championship is at Mid Wales shooting centre on Saturday 10th of September, entries 9.30am to 2pm. 50 bird re-entry. Entry fee is £20. classes for Veterans/Seniors/Juniors. any 410 can be used except 12g sleeved tubes, no cartridge or load restrictions. I think all prizes are 410 cartridges sponsored by GAMEBORE. It sounds like fun and an opportunity to meet other 410 geeks just like me. SEE YOU THERE. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RICH G
bunny_blaster
Can you just turn up and shoot?
buze
I shoot these SuperGems, in 24g actually -- they are very good, that's my 'plastic' cartridge, while I now shoot Hull HV 24 for fiber. I hadn't even realised it was a 'custom' cartridge!
richg
You not need to book or anything, just turn up and shoot.

Walker570
Didn't know Gamebore did 410s, must have a look. Still waiting for Proper Cartridges to come up with a 3inch 410. Yes it sounded like a great success for all.
