Brodie
Sold a gun earlier in the week and emailed licensing with the details. Didn't get the usual auto reply confirming they'd received the email so phoned today. Not answering any calls at any time this week, according to recorded message, whilst they try and process the backlog of work! Is this the service we pay for? MrDaveO84
That's worrying that your supposed to get an automatic reply....moved to Essex in March got my tickets transferred over and I've recently bought and sold a couple of shotguns always scanned the form and receipt and emailed and I've never received a response automatic or otherwise. I'll have to check I'm sending it to the right address but I got it off there website Edit: just checked and I'm definitely using the right email address. I was with the met before and you always got an automatic reply from them. I've kept all the sent emails so I have a trail Edited August 12, 2016 by MrDaveO84
mick miller
They're rubbish, my mate is waiting 40 weeks plus for a grant. Forty weeks!! Disgraceful.
ninja_fox
They've been like this for years - it's not going go change now
Rst1990
Have transferred a few guns in the past and always got a confirmation email but the last I have not received any confirmation back ( 4 separate emails) Spoke to my rfd about it and they said Essex no longer send out a confirmation email of receipt. So I wouldn't worry about it, it's recorded that you sent it in your sent box.
Brodie
Thanks for the replies. I shall keep a copy of the email and keep it in my sent box. Incidentally, some years ago when purchasing a gun from an Essex RFD he offered to fax my notification through to Firearms. He suggested that I phone Licensing after a couple of days to check as an FEO had told him that their fax machine often ran out of paper! Wildfowler
My sons application is now at 53/54 weeks! Yes, over a year! My renewal is now 6 months overdue and on a temporary permit. It's rediculous but what can we do?!
Fatcatsplat
They are allegedly getting better.....
Hector Vector
Getting better? I don't think so! Sent my SGC renewal off in December last year for an expiry date of the end of February 2016. They received it on the 21st December, cashed my cheque in January 2016. Heard back this week from somebody in the office (not an FEO) and they are just STARTING to process the paperwork. Looks like I'll be getting a second Permit to Possess... Fatcatsplat
Funnily enough they just extended me to January on SGC, but renewed my explosives licence straight away
Penelope
Dad is on his second S7. His cert expired at the beginning of February. My renewal went in on Wednesday, lets see how long that takes.

bluesj
Move to Sussex! A mates renewal took a just over a week and my variations and other changes didn't take much longer.
Rst1990
Don't wanna speak to soon, but my dealings with Essex have been ok. It was just last week I received my variation for different caliber, it only took 2 weeks.
