TONY R
Yes its not long now, All the best to you and your hound for the forthcoming season. I have great expectations lots of changes for me too this year, loosing my eldest lad to university and the other will be flat out getting ready for his exams its me and the youngest mostly this year it seems, Life changes and with changes generaly comes loss one way or the other, but im opptomistic for the sport, and can honestly say i can not ever remember being more motavated than i am at the moment. Been doing a lot of motorbike trials this year im as fit as a bbutchers dog and everythings ready. Get some sleep thats one thing i never like about wildfowling regularly the lack of sleep. hedge hunter
Well my youngest boy who is 8 will have a few little trips out with me no doubt. He is already my shadow what with beating shooting fishing etc, so it only logical to think he will want to tag along also. I really am looking forward to the coming years ahead. Make sure you spend every second you can with them thats my advice, they grow up fast. An old wildfowler i knew gave me this advice when we had our first one, he really regretted missing time with his, i took it on board what he said and that was a piece of advice i value to this day. We are only this way once i remember everyting i did with mine, the eldest going away to uni .. I feel sort of real old now.
anser2
The count down is getting close now. I agree Tony about the lack of sleep if you regulary do morning flights in the early season. I usualy get home after flight about 9ish and after a quick second breakfast I go to bed for 3-4 hours. I feel pretty Cr-ap when I wake up sleeping in the day time , but after a cup of coffee that quickly passes and I am fit for the evening flight. Davyo
My biggest regret before giving up shooting was not to have a go at Wild fowling, i never got round to it as i had 0 experience and its not as simple as setting up in a hedge. Guttersnipe
Yep, really looking forward to it now - had a walk down the marsh yesterday - plenty of geese around and quite a few of packs of teal. Decided to dust the cobwebs off the decoys on the lawn to save the usual frantic messing around on the evening of the 31st. In the vein of some of the other posts in this thread i thought I'd share a picture of my little helper... I'm hoping his first word will be "motherline"! Hi Tony I have been watching geese local to me and for the last 5 mornings they have come off a different way even though conditions have been the the same so it's going to be pot luck of I get under them or not
