mossberg-operator
Hi! Just got FAC. Was told that You can not try out other people's S1 guns (even with the sufficent slot on my cert). So, my question is: How am I suppose to find out which gun suits me? Which one fits? (Confused)
Sha Bu Le
Not FAC myself but I'm sure that's BS, have read enough on here to confirm it. Sure there will be some FAC members respond to give you the truth of the matter.
Scully
I'm pretty sure you could try it out in the presence of the owner, but taking it off for the afternoon on your own would be a different matter. Some years ago I was told by a member of my licensing team that it was illegal to let someone shoot your firearm, but couldn't offer any suggestions when I asked, if that was the case, how do people gain experience of using firearms. My nephew used to shoot my .22rf as have both my children. It may be illegal for all I know, but my FEO never batted an eye when he asked me where my nephew got his experience of firearms. mossberg-operator
Does this stand for long barrelled pistopls and S1 shotguns as well?
Scully
Does this stand for long barrelled pistopls and S1 shotguns as well? If it's true it would apply to anything on FAC I would think. You need to find out if it's true first. Why not ring your licensing department and find out? walshie
You can use someone else's section 1 firearm as long as they are with you and you have permission to shoot there. LBP and S1 shotguns are different for some reason. You can't use someone else's even if they are with you. CharlieT
You can borrow a rifle from the occupier and use it in their presence, you must adhere to and are bound by the conditions on their FAC. An occupier is someone who has a legally enforceable right over the land, ie they must own it, be a tenant or own/lease the shooting rights. From Section 13.49 (p.114-115) of the current Home Office Guidance: "Long-barrelled revolvers, long-range pistols, section 1 shotguns and full bore rifles designed or adapted to fire ammunition capable of discharging projectiles at muzzle energies greater than 10,000 foot pounds may not be borrowed at a range for use by other club members." https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/518193/Guidance_on_Firearms_Licensing_Law_April_2016_v20.pdf Edited September 5, 2016 by A.J.P.
