Loki
Hiya All Would anyone in the House working with Skoda cars provide me some pointers on several issues that have surfaced in the last week please - broadly as follows: 1. Climatronic display - no lights or reaction, working the day before. Fuse checked and ok? 2. Fuel indicator rising/falling even though some fuel (ok not half a tank) in it and fuel light reminder (yellow) cycling every few minutes? 3. Speedo clock working at start of day and then stopped and dropped to zero. Left work and working then stopped for remainder of 13mil journey? Rev counter working fine. Probably not related but thermostat being changed tomorrow as been erratic recently. It is a 51reg., Elegance, serviced as per schedule by local non-dealer, genuine replacement parts when needed (rarely). Happy to revert to PMs/mobile device to reduce cluttering up the Forum. Many thanks. L Gentlemen - Moved to 'Motoring'. Edited October 11, 2016 by Loki

Rupert
Sounds like potential battery failure, if its on is way out the all sorts of electrical gremlins can manifest.

Do an alternator check as well mate ,if some of your display lights /items are playing up the alternator charge warning light may be a bit dodgy as well . team tractor
Although a different motor , my saxo did that and we used to disconnect the battery for 2 minutes . All would be good for a few months then.

Loki
Hi Fellahs Thank you for all your suggestions - noted and will follow each one through - as cheaper that a replacement clock panel. Briskoda Forum suggests failing/failed electronic components in the instrument panel.....................................but not necessarily permanant.....so other suggestions also welcome! Cheers, L

My own first thoughts too, commonly some systems close down to save what's left in the cells?
Loki
Hello All Thank you for continuing suggestions - thermostat changed today so that is ticked. Waterpump ok. a blown fuse found (sunroof/multi-indicator, something), replaced and blown again. Sunroof works as does the stalk.... reversing lights working. battery test said on last legs - will replace Friday to eliminate this. She has been a good girl otherwise so (like an older sofa) difficult to put out.......... Thanks again to all - really appreciated. Loki
Hi To conclude: Battery change corrected intermitant speedo issue. Blown/blowing fuse related to engine oil level sensor - also affected Climatronic. Replacing fuse set it smoking from the harness plug to the sensor! Replaced sensor and spliced in a new plug to wiring harness (surprisingly this was off the shelf so Skoda must know its a problem?) and all working. Thanks to all for suggestions.
