Tomo-1
Hi, I have just become the proud owner of my first pcp an AA s410. I have read on various forums that most people don't appear to clean their air rifle barrels. I usually shoot shotguns and the first thing that I do when I get home is to strip and clean the gun, including the barrel. With the amount of soft lead going down a .22 barrel, surely common sense would say that it would be wise to clean the barrel after every outing? What do you do/recommend? Thanks. ASunnyD
Don't worry about it, I give mine a bit of a clean when I get through a pack of pellets (500)
Longbower
I only bother when its raining, and I'm bored .
peek-at
I also have an AA S410 (FAC version) They really do not need the barrel cleaning at all - unless you encounter an accuracy problem that isnt the scope or moderator, just leave it alone. Rewulf
Ive always found cleaning the barrel on air guns to involve putting 50 -100 pellets through it afterwards to get it grouping right again. As said, dont bother.
figgy
Either keep it clean as in every few hundred shots or never clean and let it lead in this is my preferred method but im finding modern barrels need a clean every now and again. Older Webley or any BSA barrels i would never clean inside. If you want to leave yours uncleaned and it rains just fire a bit of toilet roll soaked in WD40 or light oil out of the barrel. 7daysinaweek
i have had my s410 for 12 years, have put through it approx 5000 pellets and have never cleaned the barrel, as accurate today as the day i purchased it. would not worry about it. atb 7diaw
manthing
If it's a new out of the box gun then clean the manufacturers gunk out. If it's not been used for a couple of weeks then a couple of shots will polish up the lead in the barrel that has started to oxidise. Other than that leave well alone is my method. Salop Matt
Staring off with a new to you rifle I would give it a good pull threw. I use a Napier kit for my air rifles and then lead in with the pellets you want to use going forward but dont clean it again until accuracy goes off or I get a new sleeve of pellets with a new batch number !
