I would have that though, and just wear if for the **** off value, its actually a big improvement over the regular steel.

Your a funny man  Pete Stringfellow is the only person who could get away with the leopard Daytona!

Is that Mike Tysons old watch? Even a Russian oligarchs wife would find that tacky.

The measure of a watch to me is will it fit under my shirt cuff, is top heavy and going try and spin round my wrist everytime I move this is bloody annoying in a watch, would I wear it anywhere I go without fear of being mugged or someone trying to chop my arm off for it. And worst of all others thinking look at that ***** wearing that bling. Some watches are very nice looking others far too flash Harry looking.

I actually think its really nice, that's one of the great things about watches, everyone has there own taste. But this is purely an investment. I wouldn't touch a gold or platinum Rolex. The money in general is in the steel ones for resell IMO. I have a GMTii Steel that even in the last 2 years has made me a tidy wee profit if I were reselling it today, if I had gone for a bi-metal GMTii there would be much less profit sitting in it.

Check what the Daytona is currently selling at second hand, its mental. It was the same a few years ago, and in fairness the steel Daytona has been popular in almost every guise, I am sure Rolex keep it that way and in a way they are making it the most sought after watch on the planet really!! Currently if I were to have it and turn it over I could easily make 5k and maybe even 6-7k profit! That's mental in my book. Even some of the Arabs over here are going daft and paying silly money for them second hand (most won't wear gold). I am pretty sure I will only get one shot at this as it seems they are on the ball with their list over here! I am also prepared to be shafted and won't be surprised if I slip down the list in favour of more popular people!! But hey ho, I still think I will have it quicker than any UK supplier.

Rolex watches are a quality product without doubt, but what really sets them apart from other quality brands including my favorite which is Omega, is their marketing. Like many quality manufacturers Rolex tend to keep models going for many years with very little change at all. In my opinion this years new offerings in Basel from Rolex have been their biggest leap in changes for a long time where they have increased case sizes to keep with current big face trends and also change some of their movements bringing them more up to date with modern advances in technologies. Only time (excuse the pun) will tell if the purists like this move, and I have already seen debates over whether Rolex made the right move.

Through an amazing marketing strategy, Rolex have managed to get their name into almost every crevice around the world, you won't find many people on the planet who wouldn't mention Rolex if you asked them to name a quality watch brand, It could be argued that Rolex isn't "high end" when you start to consider the likes of Patek, Audemars, Blankpain, Chopard, but through clever marketing, they are definitely one of the biggest players. Other brands, and I'll mention Omega again, have watched this strategy and are starting to follow suit. Their quality is up there with the likes of Rolex, but their strategy has had to follow a different route to keep a foot holding in the market which have kept their prices lower than say Rolex; Now they have a strong holding, their pricing strategy is starting to follow the Rolex Model and the used market is seeing healthy increases in value.

What Rolex have managed to do so well is to market a high quality product to the masses, making very little to no changes over years but still able to increase their prices year after year; so a Submariner which would have cost say £1000 many years ago now cost £6k+ for a new one, This inevitably pushes second hand prices up where people can't afford a new one but are willing to pay 3 and 4 times what a second hand one cost when it was sold new.

Watches are a mechanical engineering marvel. You don't need to spend thousands to enjoy them, you will find one to suit every pocket, I can admire and love the look of a £100 Seiko but would never entertain a fake no matter how good someone thinks it is.

I've got my eye on a moonwatch now, but the more you read up on the history of the watch the harder the decision on which one to go for.
