Royboy
My lab was out with me on Tuesday beating, that night I noticed he had a slight limp but the morning after and last couple of days he's not walking on it at all, should I leave it a few more days or bite the bullet and take him to the vet ? He doesn't seem to be in pain and he gets around really well on 3 legs !
silver pigeon69
Have you checked for any thorns/cuts on/in the pad?
Royboy
Have you checked for any thorns/cuts on/in the pad? Yeah I've had a good look and can't see anything, nothing looks swollen and he's not bothered if I touch his foot
silver pigeon69
Sounds like a pulled/strained muscle. Not sure if i would leave it too long as the Vets may be closed over weekend/bank holiday and you may have to pay extra to see them. I would see how it is tomorrow and if no improvement, take him in tomorrow.
kyska
If I were you, and my dog was completely lame for days, I'd see a vet.
Royboy
Your probably right, I'll see how it is in the morning
JDog
Is your dog worth a £40 visit to the vet? It's a no brainer.

al4x
You've done the right thing giving a couple of days rest while checking for thorns and obvious signs of pain. Most things get better on their own, one of mine gets regular thorns, they swell up she goes a bit lame and then I lance them bathe in a bowl of salty water and they go away. In this case you could be looking at ligament damage as that leaves them completely lame and it's hard to pinpoint the source.
Royboy
Had him to the vets today and he's done something to his knee, I've been given anti inflammatorys and if it's no different by Tuesday I have to get him sedated and x rayed 😩
washerboy
For what it's worth I would try and get the dog to a greyhound vet at your local track... Nothing against normal vets but if it concerns bones or muscles in a dog I go to a greyhound vet.

washerboy
I know of a few lads that have had second opinions from greyhound vets that have saved them money but more importantly saved the dog have needless treatment
