markm
Hi. Does anyone know if you can change the safety button on an AYA No 2 from automatic to manual? All my other guns are manual and I would like it to be the same. Thanks.
triumphant59
Most sidelocks have a rod that actuates the auto safety, my guess is a No2 will have . Remove the stock and the rod can easily be removed.
welshwarrior
Yes but you need to take the action off the stock to do it best left to someone who knows what their doing.
Seadog1408
Yep can be done, mine is manual, but as mentioned I think the action needs to come off. Mike
markm
So do you just need to take the side locks off or the action? The one I have has the lever rather than screws to remove the plates. I don't want any screws chewed up, if it's the action, I'll just leave it as it is. Seadog1408
You can't IMO get to the safety by just taking your sideplates off, you need the action off.

fortune
You have to remove the control rod /lever from within the action. For the safety to work and be manual the front actuating rod would have to be cut off. This is not a good thing because it will get lost and if you sell it the safety will inevitably have to be replaced or welded back on. The thing is there for a good reason and that is because a SxS is for walked up and driven game, Generally. When you are in the cage you have two cartridges and two targets. You go in empty and you come out empty. When you are out walking you are loaded and on safe. It is very easy to forget to put the safety back on. That’s the whole point of the auto safety. You don’t take it off until you shoulder the gun. I would not do it to a #2 because it isn’t right and you will reduce its value. Try to get into the habit of checking if it is on safety. And if you go to take the shot and the pheasant gets away without being fired at so what its his lucky day and like busses there is sure to be another along. I agree with this, leave it as it is, the safety should always be on anyway until your about to take a shot in my opinion 👍
Gunman
Make a gun auto safe . Make a gun non auto safe . I wish people would make up their minds . Having done both on a wide variety of guns , what ever the gun has someone wants something else .
