worrall26
Hi All. Purchased this new gun Nov 2016. Last week first time use. nothing about so shot some cartridges through it to see how it cycled.3 first time and about another dozen. all seemed well. Out last night had first shot at a duck , missed, but 2 shots went off. Almost certain did not press trigger twice.Widgeon landed on water, waited for it to get up, going away from me. One shot missed by miles, felt forend loose, went to tighten nut up not there. Thought it had dropped in ditch where I was sitting. felt around in water but to no avail .Mate who I was shooting with went collect decoys. as he walked out found spring at about 9 yards. Then 15 yard out end cap. Read some threads on here of cap blowning off on earlier models, This is the first semi auto I have had and its put me off them .Will take it back and ask for refund. Anyone had similar problem?
sitsinhedges
We had this happen on an earlier model and had to go and borrow a metal detector to find it. The nut was steel so we heated it up to cherry red and crushed it ever so slightly so it bit on the threads better but I think later models are aluminium. TIGHTCHOKE
Touch wood I have had several of the Escorts and found them to be very good value for money. I still have one of the early ones, never had it fall apart on me, although I do check properly before I use it.

Davyo
I had a new one in 2014 it used to fire a cart when the carrier slammed back when loading.I got a refund and assumed that they would of done a recall on any gun manufacturer within that period.Very dangerous gun, hope they have improved! One thing I did notice about escorts on the various ones I've handled, the carrier build quality is very poor.Lots of movement (loose rattley if that makes sense)which you don't find on other semi autos. steve d
Which Spring did he find? Good question, the Escort i had a few years ago you would have had to lose the forend and barrel before you got to a spring?!
tigger got stichs
and the o ring / piston / sounds like the mag spring made a bid for freedom from the tube?

This was always rattley from first time I picked gun up. Thought was cartridge still in it

Still strange how a forend nut flies off though
Wymondley
The end cap threads on my Escort are quite shallow, though the cap feels secure when tightened. There's a split collet that holds the mag' spring in, so even if the end cap's gone the spring shouldn't come out.

I had exactly the same thing - quite frightening. That must have been about 2014. Got a refund on mine. The shop then had it advertised on Guntrader as ex-demo with a £10 reduction! I said in the shop when i handed it back that that should all be recalled in that batch number, just got a shrug of the shoulders (Bagnall & Kirkwood). Authorization for refund had to come from Edgar Bros. Edited February 13, 2017 by Davyo
Guest
Would a new end cap have solved the problem or was it the threads on the gun that was the trouble
