Practice for coming season/ day out with boys/ try something diffrent/other please specify. Whats most important quality of clays presented/hospitality/ location. Thanks. Wb123
There is definitely a market, i would do one or two a year depending on price which seems rather variable on the days i have been advertised.
northstar
Hi again, I have been involved in these days for around 8 years, I would say there is a gap for the smaller day, say two teams of 5 = shoot and load, aimed at the smaller business, it's ok doing big days but too many clays is unrealistic and the working man will maybe spend £175+ on a day in the session !!!!. Wb123
At home a shoot do them at £600 a day which would price me out. I wanted to do one in the Lincolnshire wolds at £250 but couldnt do any of the dates.

Wb123
What would you expect to pay for said day? I have seen days advertised from £120 to £800. Under £200 i would be very keen and would try to drag the better half along to shoot also. Potentially up for two or three days over a year. £200-£400 if a good month i could be tempted but it would be just me and more likely just the one day. Over £400 i would give a miss. buze
E.J Churchill is advertising their simulated days. I have to say I'm tempted. £195 on west wycombe estate, with all the trims. Apparently you can expect to /shoot/ about 500 carts during the day; there are two teams, and on each drive you shoot AND load for the partner, thus the volume. Could be fun...? Isn't their price +VAT, and for a group of (IIRC) 16? (8 shooting, 8 stuffing). Makes for quite an expensive day, and difficult to fill for some people, but when when I spoke to Churchills they certainly sounded like they'd put on a top notch day. I've been trying to arrange a sim day for a few colleagues and the biggest problem we're having is the group size that these days seem to be aimed at: we'd easily get 8, but we don't have 16 guns in the firm... and getting non-shooters to dip into their pockets is proving tricky. buze
Their website is badly done; the 16 guns is a 'per day' basis, but you can join any day that have space for you, UP to 16. I know, I asked.
matone
Only been on one.A team of 8 friends shot 1600 divided between 4 drives with breaks for refreshment between. We all enjoyed the day and agreed that it was a sufficient number of birds to shoot at,more would have been work ! We paid circa £75 each ,which was a good price for a days entertainment ! Hospitality with plenty of time to socialise are paramount I would suggest. Hth. Fatcatsplat
Did one at Herstmonceux a few years ago and was fabulous - Run like a formal day with shoot wagon, elevenses and ginger cordial replacing sloe gin. Lunch in the shoot hut and everything the same as the biggest driven day you've ever done! One shoots while one loads and then swap round. Really good corporate or team building day
greenergp
I wonder if they could do this sort of thing as a simulated "Wildfowling day" Itinerary: Assemble at 4am Walk to "peg" through ankle deep mud in the dark Take shooting position and wait till daylight First "drive" jet propelled teal in the half light about 10 feet from your head ( low clays fired right at you) Daybreak, have a cup of sandy gritty coffee Sit motionless for 1 to 2 hours until 3 to 4 hundred Geese fly over you just a bit too high to have a go at. (high pheasant tower x300 firing the clays in waves) Day over, walk back through the mud keeping ahead of the incoming tide. Refreshments, a Mars bar and another cup of coffee while sitting in the car Cost...........priceless Roll on September Edited March 3, 2017 by greenergp
