acier
Lost german shorthaired pointer On Friday afternooon Near martin lane Bawtry doncaster, Dog was out for a walk with three other dogs in woods behind the railway, dog went into cover and never reemerged when called. Three people with the dogs and some other dog walkers as these woods are aparently popular with dog walkers in that area. It sounds like this GSP somehow croosed a main railway line and was unable to find his way back through security fencing, and dispite a non stop search by owners their friends and local game keepers and farmers the dog is still not found as of tonight at darkness. All the ussual things facebook police rspca local council dog patrols have been informed but thrown up nothing so far. The dog was last seen on Bawtry road near bawtry paintball woodland area, around 2pm yesterday friday 10th march, where a driver of an audi car stopped traffic and nearly cought the dog up but the driver had no lead and the dog was frantic to get through to the woods again and was seen heading back towards the railway line, probably trying to get to its owners. There as been an sighting today at 4pm of a large brown and white dog reported con facebook just mins ago,, this was in the nearby town of Auckley close to the Robin hood airport. I am posting on this forum in hope some shooters on here from that area could help them find this dog, owners a close friend of mine since childhood and he and his family are obviously beside themselves with worry. Thank you.

Walker570
I live over 100 miles away, but a great pity that those members , shooters etc etc cannot swamp the area today Sunday and just cruise , looking for this dog around the areas it was last seen. Love all dogs but GSPs are special to me. Hope someone finds it safe and well.
acier
The dog is still not found but sightings in the general area today are possitive dog is fine but fearfull of anyone approacing him, he must be terified being out two nights allready. On adrenalin at the moment i imagine and sadly its a still uncertain outcome at this stage.

acier
Yes i just got back from holiday phoned the owner and aparently he managed to get the dog a week after it went missing, back at the same location. Dog had been going to all locations they visited together but was scared and not recognising or responding to owner who due to facebook was able to keep tabs on its location throughout. In the end something must have clicked with the dog he came to the owner and apart from obvious loss of weight and being tired is in good condition and seems to be fine. acier
Dog had covered about 200 miles in the week all over an area from idle stop mison over austerfield and bawtry woods, eventualy returning to the woods exactly a week latter. Owner found him at 545AM Saturday and knelt down and threw some bread for one of his other dogs to catch the GSP came in in stages to about 100 yards then he just clicked his tounge and dog ran to him as normal. Dog was frightened of the suroundings on the walk back to the car but once in the car settled down imediatley and is recovering fine, dog lost some weight they doubt it ate much just living on its fat reserves from the sounds of it, it was that scared.
