steve d
Why are there no adjustable stock game/field guns around? Only ones i know about are the 828u and the various semi autos. Is gun fit not as important when shooting live game? I realise theres nothing to stop you using an adjustable stocked clay gun for game, but who wants to lug around 8-9lbs of O/U around the countryside? johnnytheboy
I was at a clay shoot and the instructor I noticed had an adjustable 690 clay and field gun, I don't know if the field gun was specially made but the stock cut outs looked identical and definitely had beretta adjustable mechanics in the stock as they were swapping spacers from one to the other

It's worth noting that the importance of gun fit was being discussed when there was nothing else but live game shot. Also, see the above post which I've just been made aware of. steve d
So........because we're English(and Proud of it), does that mean we should accept wounded/missed birds cos the comb would be perfect if it was a few mm higher/lower? I have a 89yr old 2 1/2" chambered English SxS non ejector that fits me very well, but if i didnt, why would I have to settle for a gun that had been manufactured for the average Joe? Why would I have to spend £££'s getting it fitted when a bit of toil with an allen key/shims and a pattern plate combined with a round of Sporting could sort me out? Buy one that fits or have one altered. If folk can afford to shoot game they can afford to get a gun that fits. I understand your point totally but Imo acceptance of such things is a slippery slope and before long we would have denim clad oiks shooting grouse with a pair of adjustable comb Mossberg pump actions 😁
JohnfromUK
Couple of suggestions; It may be difficult to make an adjustable gun down to the weight for a game gun (6 1/2 to 7 lbs)? I don't know adjustable guns details well, but perhaps after a wet day getting the water out would also be more difficult? In my experience of having (2nd hand) guns fitted, it isn't expensive provided the starting point isn't a long way off. It does however require a little time and effort to find a good fitter - and get the job done. Edited May 22, 2017 by JohnfromUK
Scully
My main sporter has an adjustable comb, but 'lugging it around' on driven days isn't an issue as it is sleeved and slung. I can understand how heavy guns take their toll on rough shoot days, but English game guns simply don't come with adjustable combs.
figgy
The idea is get a matched pair made for you or get the ones you like off the peg fitted to you. Just make sure to wear your shooting suit for the gun fitting, would want to have them re do the job later. The weight isnt a problem when your man carries the guns and cartridge magazine for you to and from the gun bus.
