gibby
Any recommendations or anyone been happy with online purchased flies? Onlineflies are about 1/3 of the price I pay in the shop but worried they'll fall apart on casting. Worth a go or stick to shop bought ones? Bazooka Joe
Start tying your own, there's nothing better than knowing you've caught on a pattern you've tied yourself.
snow white
Its like loading your own shells and dropping a nice bird but it come adictive i know i have just started tying my own flies all i seem to do is keep buying bits and pieces ever time i go to tie a pattern i need somethink else abit of this abit of that its worse than reloading. Walker570
Yep, tie your own. It just happens I have a lifetimes collection of furs and feathers etc., inc., two vices and other equipment for sale as I can no longer fish my beloved rivers. Would set someone up for many years. I echo the view that there is nothing that beats catching a fish on a fly which you have tied yourself......................... mind you will probably find they come close to expensive if not more than shop bought. Commercial ? Then I have to suggest Fulling Mill Flies, quality.
gibby
Thanks for the suggestions all. I thought tieing would be like reloading rifles, couldn't validate the cost as don't think I'd save it back, however, think I'll give this a go. Sending you a PM now Walker Gibby

Aled
Tie your own defiantly I can't use anybody else's flies other than my own now (and I am not an expert by a long shot!). ...you probably have access to a fair few materials already if you shoot. Squirrel tails, rabbit fur, pheasant tails, etc, Tight Lines Aled
