walshie
Is there such a thing as a bramble specific weedkiller? I have a gazillion growing among all the decent flowers and bushes. Some are 10ft high. It's going to take the rest of my life to dig them up manually. Thanks.
Michael Scotland
Make jam wine whisky always look on the bright side of life you are not hear long as for your brambles put on a rubber glove then a cloth type builders glove soke in weed killer and starting at bottom run your hand up the brambles this will kill them without killing your flowers good luck
Mice!
I just cut right back the ones I don't want to dig out because of other plants, not much effort or mess really, then dig out the odd one here and there.

rovercoupe
Rosate i think thats what its called has beaten back the brambles behind my work place and that was 2 years ago!
Captain Caveman
Timbrel used to be the one for brambles , until HSE banned it a couple of years ago. I think roundup's about all that's left of any use.

Uncle Albert
Are any of them good for getting rid of ivy as well. I've tried everything on the blood stuff, even Sodium chlorate, but nothing seems to kill it. I tried a specific ivy killer but it had no effect whatsoever. Anybody recommend something? Me matt
Find the main stem, cut a small V into it with a stanley knife and rub glyphosate into the cut with a small sponge, no other plants will be affected. You can also use a hypodermic needle or a baby medicine syringe.

Me matt
But walshie has a gazillion of them doesn't sound like a small anything 😂 I simply offered a solution to using a non selctive weed killer in a sensitive area- the rest is his problem 😊
Mice!
Would it work any better to cut back then apply to new growth?? Ir would it not matter if you slit them as you've mentioned??
Me matt
Would it work any better to cut back then apply to new growth?? Ir would it not matter if you slit them as you've mentioned?? No, I wouldnt bother cutting back. If you apply directly to a main stem the entire plant is doomed. Its quite surprising how mamy plants die off following the treatment of one single stem- bramble can form new roots when fresh growth touches the soil. Dbw1shrops
Sounds like getting to the stem may be a mission
arm3000gt
I tried injecting SBK brush killer directly into the end of a fresh cut stem yesterday. Hopefully that will do the trick, as like you I've neglected the flower beds a bit and have brambles cropping up everywhere. I'll keep you updated on my success or failure if you want
