I wanted to stay away from adjustable mounts if I could. Just for reliability for holding zero

i used ordinary scope mounts , although i did hear that the proper yukon mounts were better.

lots of folks had problems with photons holding zero (i did too) , in many cases , the problem was the photon and not the mounts , mine went back and got fixed.

hello, seems a problem with a lot of XTs holding zero but they have a good warranty, it pays to buy in a local RFD save posting return costs, i am looking to up grade next year my MK 1 but i hope then the new batches will be problem free, have my photons on normal 30mm mounts when i change from day scopes in october

Isn't the mk1 photon with the scope adjustment turrets on top? Like a normal scope?

The reason I ask is that the xt photon that I have you adjust the elevation and windage digitally by pressing a button and the cross hairs move across the screen.

I couldn't use normal mounts as the digital adjustment only went so far so I purchased adjustable mounts,

Have a google search and you will see what I mean.

youre right mate , that was another one of the photon issues , i sent mine back to scotts country and had it sorted . my mate has two photons , and spent an absolute fortune on getting them sorted.

My 223 howa I have a picatiny rail made fore this action with the photon mount .mounted with three slots visible at the rear of the rail this gives me a reading of Y=23 and X=11 . I remove the photon to swap with a day scope so I use a torque screw driver to set up the both scopes the photon always has to be adjusted by one or two digits on the Y setting when I zero it after refitting it to the rifle I ALWAYS CHECK THE ZERO WHEN USING THE PHOTON. hope this makes sense

The photon is always spot on when I fit it to my sako 22lr never have to adjust the settings for this rifle.

What kind of set up is on your howa, do you need to put bases on as well as rings or does the rifle have runners for rings all ready on the action, I'm not familiar with howas, but I read somewhere that the 1500 will take two piece remington bases, if that's the case then the super high rings for those should work too
