hawkfanz
ok guys been given this to try n fix for someone, there not saying what they have done with it,but taken off the stock it will cock an shoot fine, but when back in the wood it will engage the sear but wont let the cocking lever back to its locking position,am i right in thinking he,s tampered with the trigger adjustments. Ttfjlc
Have you tried asking him more than once what he's done to it? I'd try saying, "if you want me to have any chance of fixing it you've gotta let me know what you've done." If that doesn't work try, "the PW massive might tease me a little bit for taking on the task even though you won't tell me how you've broken it." Walker570
am at a loss here, no technical knowledge at all although I own and shoot one, but if this rifle cocks and works ok out of the stock then how can it have any mechanical problem ? Has to have something to do with how it fits back in the stock surely. Is there a shim missing or something which is allowing the wood to interfere with the cocking mechanism ? Ultrastu
Most likely the bolt that connects the stock to the action is too long and fouling the action from cocking When fitted ive had this issue on hw before
hyflier
Concentrate your investigations around the stock bracket, (that's where the front stock screws are threaded into) as Ultrastu says; the screws may be interfering with the cocking lever. while you're there..... make sure the small allen screw which holds the bracket to the cylinder is tight. Where does the cocking lever jam, is it fully open or won't lock shut by a few mm??? Otherwise it may be the cocking shoe catching on something..... broken spring? oversize washers in an attempt to increase power? I hope this helps you resolve the issue. Pigeon Shredder.
I took one apart which had this issue and found an extra steel washer on the spring top hat end, removed and no further problem with the catch.
bruno22rf
If the anti bear trap is working correctly then the fault must lie in the cocking lever shoe or bracket - not sure where the screws for the woodwork are but try reversing them all a turn and see if anything changes - God I wish I were closer cos I love problems like this

hawkfanz
had another quick look, tried it without the screws thro trigger guard, that doesnt solve the issue,in the stock it will cock and piston engages the trigger sear ok and will lock, but then press side button to replace cocking lever to closed position and it uncocks the gun, take the stock off and it works and shoots fine, might add front locating screws are not fowling the cocking lever, still open for suggestions. Walker570
Hmmm?? Are you fully cocking the lever ? I ask because on a few occasions I have found this happening, also the button would not press to release the lever. Pressing the lever fully home solved the problem and I make sure now, I fully press the lever home and it has not happened again.

hyflier
Check the screw which holds the front stock bracket to the rifle, it only needs to be loose a tiny amount and the rifle won't cock.
hawkfanz
thanks for the help guys, have just taken it off the wood again, but this time i even screwed on the trigger guard to try i then cocked and fired it 5 times without any issues,i then put it back on stock, and haveing a carefull think about whats happening ive come to the conclusion that in the stock it doesn,t push the piston back far enough to engage trigger sear, also because it doesn,t operate the safety catch but it does when not in the wood,so i think this guy has added washers inside like has been mentioned by one pwer,so he can remove them himself.but thanks again for all the ideas given.
