TIGHTCHOKE
Used to be canvas and held 6 x SLRs in pocketed ends with a double tie band to hold them closed.

TIGHTCHOKE
Daf, they were old when I was in, I bet they've all been thrown away, I could PM you a drawing so you could get some made.
saddler
Know of an RFD using them They're padded canvas. Got an American type for about 3 guns. Has backpack straps. A basic canvas roll would be easy enough to make, but a padded version would take a little more work

saddler
Had a word with Mel b yet, l'm sure his better half could m/c you something up in canvas. ...could work too, as he keeps threatening to buy some of the heavy duty nylon material I have here, or the rubberised cotton (as used for amking the Barbour bags) The issue with the roll bags is getting the design just right so that there is enough padding but not too much. ALL sides where there can be contact need padding... The drop bags I have here are smaller more modern (Vietnam - present day US made ones) A small original WW2 British airborne weapons bag (leg bag) recently sold on Ebay UK; I think it was about £2500 or thereabouts (YES, two zero's after the 5) - for a sawn-off duffel bag with a load of eyelets & extra webbing straps added. Not a bad number for an original. The basic US idea was a single padded container called a Griswold Bag. Made in different sizes. The new large design for bigger "guns" = AT 84mm rocket launcher type kit would be a good option - will check the "smaller" one I have here for size to see if I can get 6 guns in. It has a couple of backpack straps & is a heavily modified heavily padded extra wide style of open/roll closed duffel bag. The "bigger" types are around in the USA still, at times, they look a little like this when packed/filled: Even with shipping/duty from the USA unless you get lucky & find one of the UK MoD sales distributors that has some of the British para ones in stock, then the USA made ex-mil WILL be the cheaper option short term. I've already replied to your PM from this morning... Edited August 1, 2017 by saddler
welshwarrior
think the proper name was weapons valese or something like that but i think most you'd be able to buy would be to short for your needs as most now will be for SA80. even the SLR ones maybe a little short essentially though there just a foam roll mat covered in canvas with butt pockets sewn in and straps for the barrel , cant remember but the problem you might also have it that the rifles folded onto each other so you'd have metal on metal The ones we had I thought (been a few years now) had padded pocket per rifle. So my initial thoughts are canvas maybe faux fleece lined (like a slip) rectangular design that has 5 or 6 pockets that guns slip into and a Velcro flap that folds over then it all rolls up and clips together in a bundle with a couple of webbing straps.
