Sat Rat
Just had my new Shotgun Certificate through the door, bearing in mind not due to run out until Mid September. I had a telephone interview Friday and was told it would be with me within 2 weeks. So fingers crossed onwards and upwards for us in Kent. Old Boggy
They certainly seem to have got their act together since the appointment of Matthew Scott the new PCC. The previous incumbent AB was so anti guns and had a negative impact on certificate renewals, so credit to the new one. Having said that, I have always had good service from the firearms staff and my FEO who all worked under extreme workload pressure. fortune
they've got the same work load and staff, so how did it take over a year and now it's down to a telephone call and a couple of days or weeks? are they just rubber stamping the ones that are the same as last application? Cranfield
I posted earlier this year about my SGC renewal and the issue of a shotgun permit, but I had a telephone interview 48 hours before my SGC expired and received my renewed SGC 24 hours later. I think its the lack of inspection/interview on renewals that is helping them clear the backlog, nothing to do with the new PCC (although he is an improvement on AB). If you add travelling time, I doubt if an FO could do more than 5-6 personal checks a day, whereas my telephone interview took 10 minutes maximum. Whether the telephone interview satisfies due diligence could be a debatable point, but obviously I am very grateful that it worked well in my favour. fse10
Essex police could learn a thing or two by the sound of it.... If only they would. My SGC runs out in Jan 2018 so i am sending it off now & applying for grant of FAC may (will) be in for a long wait. kentish
+1 well done to Kent police. I recently got my SGC (new award) a mere 25 days after posting the form. Heard about it taking 9 months so was very happy and relieved to get the call from the FAO in a matter of days!
