steve_b_wales
There's two sizes of threads I've heard of. One is 1/2"x20 UNF, what's the other?
saddler
Two?? A few more than that... But if you mean 1/2", then the UK norm. is 1/2" UNF (20 threads)....the US 1/2" norm. is 1/2"x28 UNEF Similar difference when you look at the standard 5/8" threads, we use UNF, the Yanks use UNEF
steve_b_wales
Is there one that's '18 x?' I have a .308 years ago and the barrel was threaded to a different size to my moderator, so had it chopped and re threaded.

steve_b_wales
I have a flash suppressor off the Parker Hale .308 and I haven't a clue what thread size it is. Not sure how I can find out either.
Mice!
I only have metric thread gauges at home but someone is likely to have others I'm sure or ask your local gun shop. Maryland metrics is a good website for thread information but there isn't really any sort of standard you can cut any thread you want. TriBsa
Have you got a set of Digital Calipers? If so then you can measure the internal diameter of the female thread and check what it matches on thread tables or post the measurement here. Then to confirm, you can beg, steal, borrow or buy the corresponding male thread as a bolt and see if it fits.

Did you measure the internal diameter of the suppressor threads? If you let me know what it is I'll check my Dzus book & send you some threaded bar with the corresponding threads on to try. Failing that I can screwcut you a small section of bar if the thread looks like it's going to be metric fine, UNEF or another non standard size. I'm working night shifts until tomorrow, so will check the thread then. And thanks for your offer of help.
