Hoping somebody can help me here. I have got my shooting permission, where i shoot rabbits with my HMR and decoying with the shotgun.

I have permission from the owner of the farm to do a bit of target practice,he has no problems with that.

Im about to get a .22 and was hoping to do a bit of target shooting/plinking with it every now and then. Where do i stand with my fac,as its vermin/zeroing but not target practice? Am i ok to do this or do i have to get it put on my licence?

I assume it is a 22RF your getting.  If so I see no problem, just make sure you have a good background and the area the target is set in has no hard surfaces.  If your going to zero at the same place then ask the farmer if he minds you putting some railway sleepers and sand bags as a back stop.    Assume both rifles are suppressed and the ground is police approved.

I zeroed my hmr on Sunday after bedding it in last week, 37 shots at different distances, it was on center after the first 3 at 100 mt's but you have to make sure don't you!

A lot of Zombie targets used in the process of elimination.

Did the bedding make a difference?

Yes very much so.

When cleaning the hmr, CZ 452 by the way, l gave it the £5 note treatment between barrel and stock and found the last 30mm was not floating, slackened of the front bolt and found the stock floated away from the barrel so realised there was a problem/error in the fit.

A couple of hours in the workshop measuring and re-assembling stock to barrel gave me the distance l required and bedding spacers made up and fitted.

First shot on the target was 50mm low but on center at 100 mt's, 2 shots later and we were on target, new target set up and 5 out of 6 within 20mm which was good enough for me on a very windy and overcast Sunday afternoon.

Bunnies on Thursday so that should a good test as l will be at 100 mt's + as they're very touchy of late.

Sounds like a worthy job!

Did you do it yourself?

Zeroing is not target practice, it is zeroing and can commonly take numerous shots.

Shooting at a target to zero is still zeroing and not target practice, make sure you stick to zeroing.

You will find it virtually impossible to get a target condition unless you are a member of a club, daft though that may sound if your gun is conditioned for walking around fields blatting vermin!

:good:
