Royal Mail Lost Letter

Finally got to the point where I believe a letter I posted on Wednesday 27th December has got lost in the post, however I remain hopeful that it is just heavily delayed due to the festive period and public holidays.

I posted 1st class stamp unfortunately not recorded, very stupid now i look back.

The letter does however contain

- 2 Passport Photos

- Photocopy BASC Card

- Photocopy CPSA Card

- Application Form with quite a few of my personal details

- Photocopy of SGC

Can't raise a claim with Royal Mail until 10 working days have passed and I won't have a leg to stand on as used a postage stamp.

Just very concerned such an array of my personal details, address and proof i hold guns is floating around in the system to potentially land in the wrong hands.

Has anybody else had delays this festive period previously or actually lost stuff in the post never to be seen again?

Sound like an application to join a shooting club? Are you sure the addressee hasn't got it and hasn't done ****** all with it yet?

Correct.

Yes contacted the individual and no sign as yet, 100% sure the problem does not lie there as we are speaking over the phone exchanging messages regularly and there is no rush for him to do anything except acknowledge my letter upon receipt.

Frankly sending sensetive data like this by post astounds me.

I see your point but the vast majority of certs are issued via post and have the sensitive information I'm most concerned about on on the cert.

Issued is one thing then  the onus is with sender, same as yourself posting unsecured.

Perhaps you should have used their Signed For or Special Delivery services!

I always have done, however due to their change in policy I've had important documents left in what they deem a 'safe place' as they can sign it themselves now. Then leave in a lobby accessible to the public so it's no fully safe if have a lazy postie.

Not meaning to point the finger as it's ultimately my fault but i asked the missus to nip in the post office whilst she was out shopping and send it recorded ( I gave the missus the sealed addressed envelope). Unfortunately due to a queue and running late she just grabbed a first class stamp from a newsagents and posted it.

Can't change that now but fully agree such information should be posted with a tracked service as you mentioned and the owness is on myself for not posting it myself recorded.

Hopefully it's suffering a delay.

It will turn up and even if it doesn't I doubt anything will come of it.

If it has been pinched it will have been by Christmas staff hoping to find some cash in it, when there was no cash they will have chucked the contents away.

Folk bothering to criticise aren't worth listening to as they aren't saying anything you didn't know and are presumably trying to massage their own egos. Good luck.

Can I point out that Recorded Delivery just uses the normal postal channels and is just a record that something has got there, or not.

If you want to guarantee it'll get there then Guaranteed Next Day uses a special delivery channel which is much more secure.

It's not cheap but for a few extra quid it's often worth it.
