Hi chaps, new here so i'd thought id introduce myself and also pick your collective brains about something. Firstly, im waiting for my SGC to come back, already have an FAC and im pretty new to shotguns. Ive shot a few O/U but only in the last month have a been following prices and such like as i do with Rifles and ammo. I was down at the local gun shop today and got a sold sticker whacked on a couple of shotties for me. Firstly, plain and simple, a Hatsan Escort for my rough shooting. I wont feel guilty about scratching it up or covering it in mud. Secondly (this one took consideration) strangeley i seem to shoot SBS better than O/U so i said to the owner whats that gun leaning up there (was right in the corner of the rack) He said its an AYA no.4 that i took in a PX this morning. So he got it off the shelf for me to fondle. Very nice i thought, woods in perfect nick, as are the barrels and the sideplate. No problems i could see. It seemed to shut positively and was a tight gun all round. How much? £375! Now bear in mind as i said im new to prices so i wasnt entirely sure if it was a decent deal or not, but after searching on the web it looks like i should have paid another £150! So being smart i asked for both to be put aside with sold stickers on. now my question is, was it a good deal? i appreciate you cant give much details without pics but i will provide them when my SGC and i come home from the gunshop with it in a few weeks.

In the meantime, heres my 2 rifles

welcome to the watch...............and those are nice sleek looking pieces of kit there.....

In terms of SG prices..they range so much....all depends on what you want and for what purpose.............I have a rough baikel o/u and lanber for knocking about with on the pigeons and bunnies...and a breder O/U for clays and shooting invites...

In terms of price all 3 were purchased 2nd hand....the baikel was £75.00 the Landber was £175.............and the breder was £500...................all equally adequate gun..............

"Monkey Nuts", pardon this Yank's ignorance but what is that object on the muzzle end of that .22 rifle? I've never seen anything like that. What's it do?

Its a sound moderator chaps. Or what you might call a silencer. Its a SAK .17hmr mod. I love my .17hmr! :good:

Yo...(That's a Philadelphia coloquial term, much like "I say"...), with all the restrictive gun laws I've read about in Britain, I'm much surprized that the Gov would allow "Silencers." Just how many decibles does it reduce?

Sorry for my ignorance lads, but I was under the impression that rifles were very much restricted in Britain. Actually I'm happy to see that you folks retain some very valuabble firearms rights.

Also, I have seen advertised a soft rubber sleve that slides on the rifle barrel to reduce the harmonics, thus improving accuracy. Have you used them and if so do they contribute to improved accuracy?
