how does it work if you have this ;

have family who live down country and you visit them on a 3-4 times a year basis and an opportunity arises to go shooting as a guest with someone ......

arrange a weeks stay with family at their house and take your gun with you .

now the question I,m thinking is how do you stand keeping the gun in the family members house during your stay

You as the SGC holder are responsible for the security of the weapon. Whether you disassemble it and keep separated parts around the house is entirely up to you.

Best bet would be to either lodge with an RFD or even your shooting host.

This question has been asked many times on the forum, separate the component parts and store separately. Use  a trigger lock if you don,t one then buy one they are quite cheap, secure the the action/frame with a reasonable padlock and cable to something that is not that easy to move and is out of sight.

All of the above are suggestions and if you use the search bar at the top of the main page you will find lots of others asking the same with lots of answer to read.

I fitted a break down gun safe in my car, fitted to luggage anchors with padlocks and eye bolts, i think most reasonable people would deem that as taking reasonable precautions, easy to fit in an estate and costs about 40 quid

mite have a go at that mate, my mate is a sheet metal worker get him to knock me one up :good:

We are talking sec 2 I presume?

I wouldn't sweat it to be honest, break the gun down, leave the barrel in the car, keep the action in your room, just make sure that when you're not present there isn't a complete gun lying around.

I would have thought that satisfied security obligations.

If it can be stored in hosts cabinet, then great, 72 hour rule?
