Another good socialist .......

'In 1983 Benn and his fellow Labour candidates stood on a manifesto which promised that 'capital taxes will be used to reduce the huge inequalities in inherited wealth'

Yes but they never intended it to apply to the "inner party members" - only to rich capitalists

Do as I say not as I do! How does a pile if old files etc in lieu of cash, contribute to the countries finances? Which is allegedly what everyone's taxes are used for! A privileged Wedgwood Benn family screwing (being allowed to!) the system.......just "call me Tony Benn" it makes me sound like one of the proletariat!................ ******* hypocrites

Any papers, which can be identified as being accumulated during the time these people were employed as public servants and paid handsomely by the country, should be the property of the country! Just shows the corruption going on in public service, another example of the system looking after its own!

Its worse than that actually; had he not renounced it, he would have been Viscount Stansgate.  The family estate is Stansgate Abbey in Essex wich as the Stansgate Abbet Estate was placed in trust to avoid inheritance tax.  He (excluding the Stansgate Abbey estate) left £5 million and owned a chunk of United Business Media (the publishing company that absorbed the family publishing business) who had significant government publishing contracts.

When as postmaster general, he tried to have the Queen's head removed from stamps he failed. After entering the cabinet as minister of technology (1966-70), he backed Concorde, not least because it would be partly built in his Bristol constituency. In both jobs he attempted to connect the actions of the government with socialism - and it is perhaps notable that whilst a massive technical triumph, it was totally uneconomic to build, never made a profit (to build and sell), hugely heavy on fuel, a massive polluter and hopelessly noisy.  None were ever sold to anyone other that British Airways and Air France - both of whom had them 'wished on them' by their respective governments.  Building each aircraft cost the British taxpayer a huge subsidy

British Airways and Air France managed to keep operating them due to the very high ticket prices and they became an exclusive 'club' for the very rich, financed by Benn and his Labour government.

Yes, that would be poetic justice.

She would probably put it on her expense account anyway !

She needs a good solid audit on last years anyway, £70,000 on 'staff' , be interesting to know who they were.

Well there's her driver, her communications manager, her costume designer and all her wonderful advisors who are doing a TERRIBLE job.

I think Festus handles the first 2 and her mother does the outfits!

Keep it in the FAMILY!
