Maybe it's becuase they consider themselves better than the rest of us.

Just shows the corruption going on in public service, another example of the system looking after its own!

The family estate is Stansgate Abbey in Essex wich as the Stansgate Abbet Estate was placed in trust to avoid inheritance tax. He (excluding the Stansgate Abbey estate) left £5 million and owned a chunk of United Business Media (the publishing company that absorbed the family publishing business) who had significant government publishing contracts. When as postmaster general, he tried to have the Queen's head removed from stamps he failed. After entering the cabinet as minister of technology (1966-70), he backed Concorde, not least because it would be partly built in his Bristol constituency. In both jobs he attempted to connect the actions of the government with socialism - and it is perhaps notable that whilst a massive technical triumph, it was totally uneconomic to build, never made a profit (to build and sell), hugely heavy on fuel, a massive polluter and hopelessly noisy. None were ever sold to anyone other that British Airways and Air France - both of whom had them 'wished on them' by their respective governments. Building each aircraft cost the British taxpayer a huge subsidy British Airways and Air France managed to keep operating them due to the very high ticket prices and they became an exclusive 'club' for the very rich, financed by Benn and his Labour government.
