Thats a early edition i believe without the safety I can't see any saftey on it, is there any other way to date it? If I'm honest it was your thread that got me wanting one... I'm going to try and get hold of the rifle too if I can find one at a sensible price. 33 minutes ago, ditchman said: i had a similar one but it was made of wood ..(handle)....it was bloody useless............ Damn..... There was me thinking I could take it high bird shooting 🙄 😂 To be honest its more that at a tenner I couldn't really turn it down. Hopefully if I can find the paint to match it'll be a nice addition to the collection at some point Edited December 14, 2019 by Farmboy91
Diver One
I had similar about 50 years ago. I made a wooden stock for it. Even with the stock I could barely hit the shed door from 5yds. But I almost took my bothers eye outbwhen I tried one of the 'darts' in it well I assume it's the same one....pellets go in then you screw a threaded plug in behind it? Fenlandbob
Just seen this thread. The gat rifle. Wish I'd bought one years ago when they cost what they were worth, practically nothing! The last one I saw on freeads was £70......,
wisdom
I had a gat pistol.Couldnt hit anything that required accuracy.Upgraded to a Wembley junior brand new from entwistle guns in Blackpool. Then a BSA scorpion.Happy days of freedom. figgy
Dart boards at five yards in the shed, darts pellets anything even bits of gravel went in mine. The Gat air rifle was a bloody ugly thing. Edited December 14, 2019 by figgy
Fenlandbob
Like most of us, I should have a couple of gat guns, somewhere. I remember buying at least two, and can't recall selling one. My memory isn't the best. I half want to find one, but a less rewarding gun to shoot, I've yet to find!
Farmboy91
Same, I had a couple air pistols i stupidly sold when younger, one was only a cheapy break barrel thing. The other ive never seen since anywhere. It was all metal and cocked with a side lever, pellet when in the back and the cocking lever locked behind it. Fenlandbob
A warrior pistol, by Accles and shelvoke? I have a nickel plated one in. 22. Cracking build quality.
Farmboy91
I've seen them but I'm not sure it's the same. Im my head it looks the same as the webley junior other than the lever. To be honest it's probably 20 odd years ago I got rid of it so I'm not 100% anymore. Might just be filling in the blanks as I know what the webley looks like now so well. Fenlandbob
Not much of a photographer. But does that look familiar? Forgot I had 2 of the things.....,
Farmboy91
Thank you both, yeah it's definitely what the lever looked like, I don't remember the pistol grip looking like that but it was a while ago. Does anyone know if you can tune the GAT? Edited December 14, 2019 by Farmboy91
Fenlandbob
Now there's a funny thing. Many years ago I pulled a gat gun to bits to try and do just that. Admittedly I was young and clueless. But it reminds me of that saying. Something along the lines of 'if you try to polish a ****, all you end up with is a sh@tty rag'! Farmboy91
You can polish a ****, but you can cover it in glitter 😂 Nah I just wondered if there was anything to be had from it. Even if it was just a smoother trigger pull. Edit. Oops, didn't realise that word would trigger the filter 😂 Edited December 14, 2019 by Farmboy91
Fenlandbob
Hahaha...., same as that! With regards to the trigger, that's exactly what I was trying to do. I did try to polish the mating surfaces, but it didn't do any good. Have to be careful not to over do it and go through the case hardening. I'd just accept it for what it is. Or just sell it to me, and get your tenner back! 😄
Farmboy91
Ahh well, nevermind, I'll settle for tidying it up 👍 I don't dare do that, I'd have one very u happy little chappy on my hands lol
