Trenta
Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone has used corvids on a whirly when targetting crows, rooks and jackdaws? if so, any tips or is it a waste of time? Thanks! Trent
oowee
It will work in the flat areas of standing crops if the arms of your rotary are upto it. I sometimes usee a flapper but a better plan is to have adequate sticks to use shot birds as deeks. A large wide pattern will draw them from a very long way, if they want to be there. B725
Yes I have but found it worked better when slowed down., I also made my own flapping bird's to go in it using modern roofing felt.
JDog
Try it The first time I put Jackdaws on one the incomers tried to land on it. It was easy shooting
Trenta
Very interesting - thanks for the replies. I will give it a go next time I am out, will make sure it is sloweed down though
steve_b_wales
I found that it worked well for Jackdaw's, but the Crow were a bit wary of it, and kept their distance.
Centrepin
I tried it this week, crows flared off about 60 - 70 yards and I'm not confident of a hit or kill at that range so brought it in and tried a Jackdaw on a bouncer, absolutely nothing came near. Fetched it in, just 3 full bodied decoys out and a few came for a look see for very last time. Had quite a few circling very high over the rotary and tried to call them in with the Acme but no joy. They seem to learn very quickly.
oldypigeonpopper
hello, blackies are finicky creatures, what works one day could change on another day, just use 2 decoys on bouncers and 4 whole body and 6 shells on the ground, change the bouncer decoys when you have shot the first 2 Edited May 18, 2020 by oldypigeonpopper
