john faul
when we were lamping a few pigeons flew out of trees and i put the lamp on them and they seemed to stop as in freeze in mid air i think it was because they couldnt see were they were going with the light
steve_k
the easist way to do it wood be to wait til its a little darker in the evenings as they roost you can shine the lite on them and they will not move in the slightest! easy pickings. dont know that from experinace by the way before i start a big argument... we shoot them flying with the shotties while rabbit shooting... they just go to the butchers with everything else... sk

Tarka
tuck yourself in the wood a few hours before dark and as they come into roost shoot them from the branches easy as pie
magman
as a youngster in the winter we waited for a good moon go into the woods move slowly and you will be amazed at how many pigeons you can bag with no light
paul.s
yep, best waiting for winter when there are no leaves, the birds are easily spotted, would imagine it to be difficult to spot them with a lamp shining at the trees
Hunter_zero
difficult to spot them with a lamp shining at the trees And illegal! John

The Countryside and Wildlife act prohibits such activities. John
rssquash
as a youngster in the winter we waited for a good moon go into the woods move slowly and you will be amazed at how many pigeons you can bag with no light That sounds good fun. I did go down to the wood last night but there was to much foliage so I will leave it till the winter, but I did get 33 rabbits with my little airgun so that was good. Dave-G
A lamp is counter productive - you will get throwback from the foliage. Much better to exploit the fact that its dark near the base of the woods but lighter in the sky - which back lights the quarry.
