mudpatten
I suspect that many of those who will volonteer an opinion have never actually read the small print on their non BASC legal insurance. It would be worth phoning round insurers with a list of pertinent questions to find out the definitive answer for yourself. It is my personal belief that, if BASC could have found a reasonably priced, value for money alternative they would simply have switched to it. Apparently they couldnt find one which, when you investigated it thoroughly, would actually provide the cover that many seem to think Legal Insurance confers. In most cases it is nothing like as comprehensive as you think.
Dave at kelton
Most household insurers do it as a bolt on and some may include it anyway. As said though you need to look at the small print it is rarely all you would expect unless you are familiar with the product. Check your household insurer first as it is rare to buy it separately.
