cragman
Here’s a young cuckoo chick I was watching during the summer. I watch and study cuckoos so have a pretty good idea when the female is due to lay and in what area. This young ‘un fledged but I don’t know how it fared in the big wide world of preditors on the moor. It’s strange to think it could return and parasitise the very birds that reared it 👍🏻 Edited September 15, 2020 by cragman
JDog
Great picture. I view Cuckoos in the same way I do Sparrow Hawks and Goshawks. Great looking birds, but very bad habits.

shakin stevens
I moved from the midlands very recently to the far north in the highlands , never seen so many cuckoos on the wing and calling, yet in the midlands they seem to be very few like they was. scolopax
In arable East Yorkshire I now hear more quail than cuckoos, this year quail 2 : cuckoo 0. yet on some ground I stalk in SW Scotland there are plenty of cuckoos
Smokersmith
A truly remarkable piece of evolution. Imagine being one of the first naturalists to work out what was going on ... mindblowing!!
