Smokersmith
Folks ... in a repair shop style, I'd like to have a go at fixing the end cap on a leather slip. It has a proper 'block' end and 2/3rds of the stitching has come loose. Any idea on where I can find an online video of the technique required? Fatcatsplat
Any pictures? Would be nice to visualize.
DUNKS
Yep shed loads of vids on leather work. Knife sheath making for instance. You will need two needles and strong thread. All of which can be bought quite cheaply on the bay.

Fatcatsplat
Get yourself a decent awl to make the holes with and use waxed thread with 2 needles (a pair of pliers are also a great idea!!). Are you looking to sew the bottom itself or the collar surrounding it?
Smokersmith
I'll use saddle stitch to fit the 2 parts together. I reckon I've got my head around it now. Cleaned up the sheepskin inside today and it's come up nice, so looks like I'll save myself a few quid !!
Yellow Bear
A tip is to use waxed nylon rather than waxed linen - looks the same but does not rot.

Very true but if the people cleaned and fed their leather goods instead of putting gear away, dirty, wet , linen stitching will last A lifetime.
