They can now be deported.

yea but WILL they be deported ?  probably not ........... they,ll more than likely play the " MY LIFE IS IN DANGER BACK IN MY OWN COUNTRY" card and the oh we cant allow that brigade  will allow them to stay and continue their crime spree ......... may i also add that i.m.o it takes more than 2 people to steal , strip , transport  & sell the parts from the cars

I had a 435D taken off my drive on 10th May '18; through people I know indirectly it was established that the two local "crews" hadn't done it and most likely a mobile "crew" of Eastern European hackers.

I agree with Vince that manufacturers could and should do more about physical security vulnerabilities on cars and vans but it's a tradeoff between availability and fail safe vs secure. I'm waiting on delivery of a Transit Connect and it looks like to make it secure I need to spend the best part of £1k - the most basic change is a guard fitted to the upper front door hinge to protect the wiring loom being cut (which fails safe to unlocking the doors).

Personally I don't care what country, religion, race or other way of classifying they are from, people who burgle and steal from the general public are the lowest of the low. We have enough homegrown instances of these people so should certainly try to get rid of any that have migrated here.
