I'll be the first to admit that the government aren't seeming to get everything right , and in some instances they don't seem up to the task , but in all honesty,  who would be able to get covid right ?, each time that they seem to be getting things under control , covid goes off in a different direction ( other strains etc ) , the government has no choice but to follow, it makes them look incompetent at times , but they don't have many options , and they're doing that whilst trying to please everyone in the country . The fact that they're managing to upset everyone , probably means that they're getting it about right.

I'll completely agree about the limited choices at the election . I'm sort of a traditional labour voter , but I'm guided more by my social conscience than any political leanings,  and I'd rather vote for the party that I think would be better for the country , rather than the party that might be better for me personally.  I voted for Boris and his tory clan, purely because I thought that Brexit was best for the country .  The thought of voting for the likes of Jeremy Corbyn,  and Diane Abbott , still makes me shudder. Can you imagine if we had our Jeremy running the country right now , we'd all be getting excited at the prospect that we might be getting our first covid jab by 2025 , just as soon as every other country in the EU had gotten theirs , and those of us that were left , wouldn't really mind that we had to stand in front of the doctor and sing the EU national anthem as they jabbed us .

For me in times of strife where there are no winners, pulling together a cross party cross nation board, led by Boris steered by science underpinned by the treasury cheque book was the way to go. No losers in that scenario.

Boris is not into detail, and cannot stick to the task for fear of sentiment. A cross party / nation group would avoid all of that but it takes humility and we won't see  that from the nasty partythat rules from on high.

The idealist dreamer in me , would dearly love to see this . We would be faster , better ,more efficient  , and ,cheaper , and whilst I wouldn't say that their would be no losers , at least we would all lose less ,and more equally,  and we would see a least bad resolution to the whole sorry mess for all concerned.

BUT.

The realist in me knows that this would never ever happen . I wouldn't really see Boris as the big bad wolf , or rather , I wouldn't see him as any worse than any other leader . And as things stand at the moment  , I'm pretty glad that Boris is the one steering our ship .

I know that we're in a bit of a mess in this country(biggest understatement ever) , but I look around the rest of the world , and thank god that I live in England.

So you think adding Labour, Lib Dem’s, Greens and SNP to the mix adds any value? Classic. All you would have would be less chirping from the sidelines which is no more of an irritation.

there were many gullible sycophants that could not see past the cheasy grin and false promises.

And I thought you liked Sir Kier ?

Captain Hindsight (Starmer) and his party are such a weak opposition, they really should just sit back and let Boris and Co get on with it.

Which, apart from the odd snide comment, is exactly what they are doing.
I bet Kier is thanking his lucky stars labour didnt get in , and Im not even joking.

Getting all those agendas to agree on a strategy ? You really have to be joking now ?

What do you think the SNPs contribution would be

Look at the shambles of the EU s group strategy on vaccines ect , that worked well didnt it ?

The realist in me see's that Borris only thinks he is steering GB.

How can Borris steer four ships when he only has the tiller of one of them? Borris needs the co-operation of the other nations, which he could buy and the Nations need our cash which he controls. The perfect Symbiotic relationship, holding the Union together and proving it's worth at a time when the Tory's have done a pretty good job of dismantling it.

Its easy , when the one hes steering is in the front.. towing the other three :|

Scotland aside. as the SNP seem intent on leading the Scots to economic oblivion, Wales and NI have limited power to forge their individuality.
And I really dont think they want any more than that.

Im sorry , but if the intent was there to dismantle it, and we are really only talking about Scotland here, they would just give them an unopposed indiref 2.
The only groups intent on breaking up the UK , is the SNP and the EU, thats why Jimmy keeps trying to court the EU, my enemies enemy is my friend, mentality.
Trouble is , the EU have much to lose , and little to gain in the matter, they just flipped Scotland the finger on Erasmus for instance.

Me , Id like to see another Scottish Indiref, and watch as they vote to stay, again.
Maybe then , we could stop having to listen to the SNP saying they speak for Scotland on the matter.

Maybe.
