I found that with American guests you could guarantee two things: 1) You will get a tip. 2) It won’t be very big.

Then it starts to get difficult and you need to understand a rambling post of ditchman after a bottle of red and when his medication needs adjustment. I have already said too much but have you ever wandered how your shooting buddy always gets the best pegs. just like the Freemason secret hand shake next time you are out shooting ensure the shoot caption sees you tipping reds into your carriage bag that’s all I will say ! Vince Green
Think back to the era of Downton Abbey and the big shooting weekends. It was said that the different colours prevented people confusing the different bore sizes. In the big houses they would have many different guns and bags of cartridges in the gun room on shoot days 12 bore was always red (ish) 16 bore was always blue 20 bore was always yellow And a gentleman would never dare turn up to a shoot with the wrong colour cartridges Edited February 18, 2022 by Vince Green
mattsccm
The Forestry Commision didn't seem to worry about colour. I have both 12 and 20 bore in a pale pink/beige paper case. Eley stamped brass and Forestry Commsion printed on the sides. Nothing else. No idea how old they are. Part of a clear out from a deceased uncle's cupboard.
